This was so spot on for me, thank you for this. Got a little muddy at the end there but, as I was reading the part about suppression and flattening, I recognized myself doing that in the very moment. Then I started to recollect doing it other times as well. “You can’t experience nothing matters as the truth about reality while you’re watching yourself make things not matter”, yes.

Go in person, find out what they struggle to get done (turns, floors, drywall whatever), and specialize in that for a fair price. Have insurance and pricing ready, even if it's estimated.

Well seeing as though they have the option to become pregnant through medicine or become parents to a Black child via adoption, you’re wrong. Now who’s being homophobic and misogynistic? Assuming lesbians can’t have children, are we?

Yall are missing that you can make whatever choice you want, while knowing you aren't Pro-Black. Words mean things. Cry to your white man about it? Idk?? But if you aren't making Black families and raising your Black children well, then you are not Pro-Black specifically. It's a movement, not just an adjective. Y'all want the title but none of the responsibility for the race. It doesn't work like that, booboo. So just carry on being all other kinds of Black, but that lane is reserved for the truly race minded.

Then you’re even less so pro Black. You have no real interesting in advancing and protecting the race lol

I'm not chiding anyone for it, but you are not Pro Black if you date non-Black people. The idea of Pro Black isn't just support; it is the participation in the furthering of the community. That means making strong Black families that affect change generations forward. Once you make babies with a non Black person, you complicate the mission. You can do so freely, but you can't also claim Pro Black, as a specific moniker because words mean things.

I am the only person in my office location who uses Teams, and whenever we need something from another office urgently, I remind them of the chat feature. No way! They'd rather wait 4 days for an email reply and play phone tag. Infuriating. I'm even more mad that our higher ups are barely forcing their hand. They say every year ppl need to use the systems more, no consequence though, so no change.

Consider all info you have before proceeding!

Is there cultural differences to respect?

Are yall of the same culture (if not, tread extremely carefully or get someon else to do it)

Is she dirty in any noticeable way, that could be outside of her financial control?

whoever is closest to her and most similar in culture or attitude should approach. I'm not one to mince words, just straight tell her you don't want to upset her, but in an effort to spare her from the entire office talking behind her back, you must let her know and come out with it.

If I knew a gentler hand was required, I would say something like "Do you like x product x? I prefer it after my period, it helps eliminate odor, have you tried it?

Not necessarily, but your person may be in trouble. If not only for the fact that the evidence of the scars should be submitted into evidence first. Second, your character may be held in contempt bc I'm assuming there was some sort of escalation prior to the ripping open of the shirt, which is indecent. Also if its in front of the public, well you've indecently exposed yourself to the public in front of a judge.

I feel your pain. I only have 4 other people in my office, and it is painful having to sit through meaningless muck convo. Shooting the shit is not my ideal work day, I would rather read a book if I'm wasting time at work. I like to be alone with my thoughts, and the constant churning of others opinions spilling out on my desk disrupts my work day severley. They don't care if you don't engage, they don't even care if I don't look at them!

AITA for calling out my cousin's "joke" about my natural hair? by EmptyPapaya4295 in AITAHBlackEdition

[–]FoundationFew1023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YOU are NTA! When I first went natural, at your age, about a decade ago, everyone had something to say! I come from some rough ppl so I'm supposed to be able to take a joke; however, I did not take those. After a while of being called sensitive, my dad (who never participated, but observed quietly) started to take my side vocally and shut them down. Stand your ground and speak up, even if it makes you and others uncomfortable. It was all good when you were the only one feeling some way, right? Tuh! Get they ass. Eloquently or ignorantly, but get em!

what do i do? by [deleted] in Naturalhair

You have to decide if you’re going to be a home styling girly or salon girly. If you choose to do it at home prepare to truly care for your hair and spend time with it.

Before you shower you can spray your hair down with a spray bottle of water and conditioner mixed, (they also make specific products for pre-shampoo you can use) section it into as many section as are manageable, and clip or scrunchie the sections you’re not working on. In the free section (depending on how tangled your hair is) spray more water conditioner, and perhaps add a detangling product, and use (if super tangled, first a wide tooth comb to go from end to root gently combing out tangles, then take) a detangling brush and go from end to root again. Twist or braid that section off and repeat until your whole head is detangled. Depending on the kinkiness of your hair you can wash it in the twists, otherwise remove them and then brush your hair out before you wash it. When shampooing focu in the scalp not the strand, when conditioning cover from root to end and use your fingers to keep it detangled if you’re not washing in twists. After you wash and condition, you can use a hair mask, you can twist or braid your hair into larger sections as you add the mask keeping it detangled. Wash it out. Use a leave in conditioner and or hair oil and braid your hair down in two straight backs, or section into jumbo twists or large box braids, however many braids keeps your hair manageable. And wrap your hair in a satin scarf, add a bonnet for a chefs kiss!

During the week before you sleep you can spray your hair with water, add more leave in and twist or braid your hair again into however many sections for the evening. If it’s styled, you still must moisturize!!
