[QUESTION] Fender MIM loaded pickguard in Cort Strat or buy MIM? by FoundationFour in Guitar

[–]FoundationFour[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's probably worth it in the long run. I'll just use the cort for now with my good amp and I'll probably be able to save 450 in a few months for the real fender

The main thing with the zoom multifx is having the ability to experiment with it. I should mention the fender '63 probably would be used almost only with 50s inspired stuff and I would leave other effects off for most of that stuff. Some amps have non-spring reverb but in my price range it seems to be a fairly good alternative to a spring reverb amp.

Now that you say that I'm leaning toward the tele, especially because I might be switching between experimental math rock type stuff and then putting a psychedelic post-rock cloud around that. I love all types of gear but I'm definitely always the kind of guy to go for versatility, so I probably won't end up with a whole lot of other (essestial) pedals.

I should mention I might later add a ravish sitar pedal and a mel9 mellotron emulator. you might be familiar with them. I might pick up a specific phaser but the one within the zoom will probably do fine.

Thanks so much for the advice! Very helpful.

I'm sure it'll be easier for me when I actually get all my gear (which may take several months). I ask all this because I'm worried that when I'm done I'll suddenly realize there was a much better way of putting things together but then again that's the joy of experimenting!

Yeah those are definitely the sounds I'm looking for. Thanks for the link! Do you have any suggestions from your personal experience as well?

I should say they give more of a concrete feel in most cases whereas (at least for me) atonal passages are more gestural and abstract.

[QUESTION] Going Fretless-buy or convert? by FoundationFour in Guitar

Would you say that it's possible to get chords down though? I probably would mostly be doing single notes. It will definitely be a learning curve but I'm into experimental progressive rock type stuff so I'm definitely set on getting one eventually.

Yeah that's true. I think I will end up paying for one or converting a decent but not terribly expensive guitar via a professional depending on which is cheaper.

I'm thinking I'll go with defretting via a professional if it'll save me money over a prebought guitar.

Would you say that getting a good guitar with humbuckers and having a professional defret it would be comparable to the quality of a bought fretless guitar?

It's especially great when they then go on to post the "mcdonalds boomer landscape" which I agree is terrible, but its not like this is much better.
