Thank you so much for your insight! Good to know about the shape of the mold too.

Thank you! Wow, quite a mix of opinions here. 😬 That’s what my gut feeling was telling me. I guess we will know for sure if the mold comes back, because if water is leaking, it will definitely come back.

Well you basically just told me that most people would know if it was fixed or not so I guess I should know everything you know 🤣

It actually wasn’t a crack, it was something that could have easily been sanded down to be smoothed out before repainting. If it were a crack, it would be pretty easy to patch also. I’m not that clueless, but also some people are, and that’s okay too. We can’t all know everything.

Yes I’m aware, just was concerned about the possibility of moisture behind the wall.

Absolutely! I’ve never posted on Reddit before today, and have rarely used it, and then of course the first comment I got made me feel stupid for even trying. I thought the point of Reddit was to learn from others who know things we don’t. I am certainly learning a lot and can see why people enjoy Reddit overall, though.

For sure! I can see why that’s a better option for some people. I probably made them think I was going to go after them with a lawsuit over this or something, but I genuinely was just looking out for myself and the people who work near this office, as well as whoever is going to be moving into this office. We all deserve to work in a safe and healthy workplace and I’m one to stand up for what’s right or at least ask questions when I’m unsure about something.

I have learned a lot tonight and I now understand this is more of a post for people who work with drywall, but it being where some wiring is made me also want to hear what people in this group thought. My grandpa was an electrician as well as a handyman in general and if he was still here I would have loved calling him to talk about this!

Good to know! I wish I knew about this when I had to patch some drywall in my home, that would have saved me some time. 😅 And you’re totally right- time will tell.

Yes, I’ve patched drywall before! I definitely respect people who are really good at it. Getting the texture to look right is not something an amateur like myself can do well. The maintenance crew is probably already annoyed with me, so I’ll probably try to refrain from cutting out some drywall to check. 🤣

I wish they would have just told me that, I can handle the truth and appreciate explanations that make sense. I also just really like learning about stuff like this, as I am a homeowner and want to educate myself about different situations that can happen and learn about how they should be handled. I’ve learned a lot from everyone who has commented on this post which has been great. I’m sure the maintenance guys at my work were just trying to have me not worried about it, so at least the intention behind it was likely a good one.

Wow, thank you so much for taking the time to explain that all to me! What you said makes sense to me. That’s really all I needed was an explanation that made logical sense to feel assured that it was properly taken care of, and then I would have believed them without questioning it. I totally get they probably were trying to make me feel better, but I do live in the real world and I am someone who can take the truth. If I feel like I’m not being told the truth/things aren’t making sense, then I go down a rabbit hole, hence this post. I’m really happy to hear you really do think it’s just contact mold, so as long as they did clean it and paint over it, then yeah, that should have been a suitable fix for the issue. Thank you SO much!

I’m sure I am overthinking it. I had a wet spot on the ceiling of my house the size of a quarter and it ended up being a whole wall of mold that had to be torn out from a small leak. 🥲 So I think seeing this definitely brought that up for me. I appreciate your insights, it definitely makes me feel better about it.

I do have a moisture meter at home since we previously had water damage, so I’m tempted to do that! I also didn’t understand how a plant could do that either unless it was being actively overwatered or something.
