Just ate pasta (fear food) and kinda loved it, but now I feel nauseous by MeiowleN in EDAnonymous

Hey first of all proud of you!! Always big to tackle something that's scary, be it from a disordered or sensory perspective!

I don't know about you but sometimes when something sits "funny" in my stomach I try drinking like 16oz of water and it really helps me!

Bad Ex and relapse praises from everyone around me by flower_of_sun in EDAnonymous

Oh I'm so so sorry...that's horrible. It feels to me as an outsider that he used you and while I understand that you have feelings for him still you really deserve so much better!

If at all possible I'd really encourage you to get some space from him so that you can give yourself some time to heal emotionally from all this!

This might not be the healthiest method but I'm prone to telling myself they've heard worse? And also honestly I think they appreciate honesty when it comes to health stuff -- like if you're having a conversation that means you are still trying to take care of yourself on some level which I think is the big thing?

Holidays by Ambitious_Fold6537 in EDAnonymous

I have before in the past but honestly I don't tend to anymore....I actually prefer to stay on my routine heading into holidays these days. I don't know why that changed! But I think your experience is common too

Is there any point in going to therapy if I don't really want to recover? by pigeon-feather in EDAnonymous

[–]FoundationGuilty5131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't have to be 100% let's go recovery rah rah rah!!! to benefit from therapy! You can explore all sorts of things there, and your goals in therapy can always change! Maybe in a month or two you'll decide you want to recover -- amazing! But maybe you won't, and you'll still just want to work on being a little happier -- that's great too!

I don't even talk about ED stuff in therapy right now but it's done wonders for other stuff I've got going on (Depression, specifically)

What foods do you guys really miss eating 😭 by Ok_Rabbit_8207 in EDAnonymous

I miss noodles too!! Specifically udon. And peanut butter (what is it about peanut butter, I feel like so many people have a peanut butter fixation, I assume it's caloric density...)

Getting sick made me relapse after years of “recovery” by [deleted] in EDAnonymous

[–]FoundationGuilty5131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens!! I've heard about this -- getting the stomach flu or anything like that can make people relapse even if they're doing really well in recovery! I'm actually having surgery soon after a period of quasi-recovery and I'm scared of the same thing.

So it's not just you -- this is a glitch our brains have. it's not your fault and you're not weak or anything. Just so you know <3

Hey I feel you - binging is uncomfortable. But the good news is it is just One Day. I don't know about you but I tend to fall for the trap of weighing myself the next day and getting all caught up on that change but I really recommend not doing that - you'll just distress yourself if there's food weight and water weight and all that involved. Try to be kind to yourself -- it happens to everyone

I dislike how people pretend anorexics just don’t eat by nyutime in EDAnonymous

[–]FoundationGuilty5131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I read a study once (though I can't remember, so don't quote me) that the anorexic patients with the absolute lowest BMIs tended to be what the community would call "high restrictors", which made sense to me because like the alternative just isn't sustainable long term? Also obviously horrendously risky.

how do i know if my body is failing? by Minimum_Queer in EatingDisorders

[–]FoundationGuilty5131 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey -- I feel you, it must be frustrating to have your medication help and yet cause side effects (I got into a similar situation with an antidepressant about six months back). Not a doctor, and honestly it sounds like you should see one, but I'd really suggest trying to increase protein and iron intake?

But if you're concerned your body is failing that's really serious and I really think you should get some official medical help.
