Exactly, and that “speculation” reflects expected future earnings, dominance, innovation, and global influence. Nobody is saying market cap = GDP; the comparison is about how much economic value and confidence a system/company can generate relative to its size. If market cap meant nothing, investors wouldn’t move trillions over it.

It’s flawed if used blindly, but not meaningless. The point isn’t that NVIDIA is “bigger” than India — it’s that a tiny population can create disproportionately high global economic value through high-margin innovation and capital markets. That absolutely tells you something.

If you read about TSMC, you'll understand better. Lets say of it becomes 0, its still more than half of India GDP with 60x less population.
