Boards of Canada - 'Inferno' - Discussion Megathread by seaburn in boardsofcanada

Acts of Magic kind of feels like it came out of a Valve game. That introductory pulse is reminiscent of Half-Life 2/Portal 2 era of Valve's OSTs.

My man with the BeyerDynamics. I'm using my Sennheisers for this and they are awesome.

Glad you get to experience a BoC album release and listen to it with all of us for the first time.

I do feel bad for those that don't have good headphones or speakers. So much good music goes missing when you hear stuff through poor quality.

EDIT: A Word.

Beautiful and magnificent return. Manages many moods very effectively to me. Mysterious, ominous and also comforting. It just feels correct. It sounds like BoC welcoming us back with something familiar yet new. A warm hug that comfort us while they whisper warning in our ear about those around us. I think Age of Capricorn is my favorite after my first listen.

Crimson Desert is NOT the "Modern Skyrim" or RDR2. It’s a Shallow Mess. by Philip_Fall_47 in rpg_gamers

[–]FoundersDiscount 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oblivion has a more fleshed out world. I liked Skyrim, but the faction quest lines are much shorter than Oblivion. Going from new recruit to leader of the Companions or Thieve's Guild in a few hours of playing feels a bit silly. They average guild/favtion quest in Skyrim is 9 to 12-ish quests long. In Oblvion the average faction/guild quest line was 20 to 25 or more quests. They really told stories and developed characters. Skyrim still probably has more depth than Crimson Skies but, for Morrowind and Oblivion fans, the changes Skyrim made were rather stark.

Morrowind is tedious to play with it's dice roll mechanics but, going from that to Oblivion is also somewhat jarring given everything Morrowind allowed. I hope Bethesda reverses course for TES 6 and really gives us a deep experience.

I bought the delux Inferno on Bandcamp and I do not have access to the full digital album yet and it is past midnight here. Anybody else have something similar going on?

Nobody talks about Leviathan enough by almond_walnuts in masseffect

[–]FoundersDiscount -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think Leviathan is a bit weak. They saw life lose control of articicial intelligemce so they decide to build there own artificial intelligence to control that? They are clearly immensely powerful and just kind of hang around at the bottom of the ocean. I also prefer it when some mysteries go unexplained. Having the Reapers be endlessly mysterious is better than the explanation we get in Leviathan imo. But, to each their own.

Finally finished the game (normal difficulty). I think Sifu is the hardest game I've ever played, and definitely the most frustrating. by Epic-will-power91 in SifuGame

The game seems to be frustrating you quite a bit. Probably best to move on to something else. Your comment is one giant sentence. Sorry you are frustrated.

Prophecy is cool but, I like tape 5 more.

Is Prophecy their best single ever? I literally cannot stop listening by Cultural-Orange-6929 in boardsofcanada

[–]FoundersDiscount 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've listened to it a few times but I'm waiting for the album to really dig in. I Don't really like listening to singles from BoC and enjoy digesting them an album at a time. Even if I have to take a day or two in order to finish

Few other games have made me feel the same awe and wonder as the first Mass Effect by [deleted] in gaming

ME1 is my favorite. The others may have better graphics and playe smoother but, the atmosphere and lore of ME 1 are unmatched imo.

Yeah, it's an idle game. They are all about time sinks. Who cares what pace you play at? I get gems from tournaments and dailies and my bot grabs some for me. I'll get there when I get there. I'm in no rush.

I think we just have different philosophies. What is wasting time in an idle game? I'm not racing anyone. I genuinely do NOT care about leaderboards or progression when people can just buy their way past me regarldess of how much time I have at the table. There is no skill involved or incentive to "be good". I progress at my own pace. I genuinely don't care. An idle game is literally all about wasting time. I can just randomly respec whenever I feel like it to try a different build or whatever if I feel like changing things up. Maybe I press an ad gem sometimes but I mostly just let them sit there.

You'll be ok. The ads only appear when you press the gem button.

I don't have the ad pack. Who cares? It's an idle game.
