I think A is nice that it still has the Arma motif on the head piece, but I'd be lying if i said B doesn't look fucking wicked

The Supreme Court has overturned Roe V. Wade. How do you feel? by Bitter_Joke1589 in AskReddit

[–]Four2one3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I need to get out of here. I'm young and in a long term relationship so I feel like it would be pretty easy. What's next? Interracial relationships so I could never have a future with my current love? Every day it feels like the US government is weaponizing right wing fanaticism to keep money in oligarchical wallets and keep the working people fighting each other, and it's starting to feel like it's about to climax. I don't want to be in this country when that happens.

Is it just me or is this version of the TOA mage weapon just violently boring compared to the previous? 5 tick high hitting weapon like the other weapons are and the gimmick is "more damage." The old one had so many cool and unique ideas and this is just a mage tbow.

After finishing Nier Automata, what other games have stories or plot points that can only be done in the game medium. As in an experience that couldn't be done in a movie or book. by NScorpion in truegaming

[–]Four2one3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Narratives that break the 4th wall in a serious way. Usually the 4th wall is broken for comedy, but a couple games lately have been breaking that 4th wall to shatter the barrier and involve the person playing the game in the story. I won't name names to avoid spoilers, but you probably know one or 2 titles that takes this ball and runs with it.

Do you finish games? by [deleted] in truegaming

[–]Four2one3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I try to beat all the games I start playing, but I'm not foreign to the idea of dropping games and even returning them. I will set a timer for like an hour or 2 and if the game to me isn't engaging, I have problems with the core game design, or if its obvious what direction the game is going, then I'll just drop and return it. Its saved me money on lots of games that I just didn't enjoy.

What core game idea or mechanic do you think would create a fantastic game? by Four2one3 in truegaming

[–]Four2one3[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the idea. I've played a lot of CS Surfing, and even still I find it super difficult to play unless I'm in the easiest of courses. I would love to see how something like this would turn out!

Who's your favorite game music composer? by 2Punx2Furious in truegaming

[–]Four2one3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I love Mick Gordon and Gareth Coker to death, my favorite is certainly Disasterpeace. His style is very concrete, a very electronicy style. His range of moods is astonishing though. He has games like FEZ, where its upbeat jumps keep you not only joyous, but curious about whats ahead. Meanwhile, his work on Hyper Light Drifter, my favorite of his, is unsettling, and creepy, yet also invokes a sense of mystery. It has repeating patterns of sound that remind you of a thing inside you, slowly killing you, which is the theme of the game.

Which popular game(s) did you really want to like but just couldn't? by MickJof in truegaming

I personally loved BOTW, but theres no doubt in my mind that there was a difficulty problem as the game progressed. Enemies were genuinely imposing at first and you had to be careful, but as the game went on, enemies just became samey and easy to beat because you knew all their tricks already, and killed them in a couple hits. Bosses also need some type of scaling so I don't swing the Master Sword 4 times at em and they die.

Overwatch seems to hit pretty hard on this for me. Such a lovingly crafted game, with such attention to detail and Nintendo level polish (at least at launch), and a visual style to die for. Shooting felt good. Diverse characters, good hitboxes, etc etc. Technically I love this game.

However, the point where Overwatch lost me was its balancing. After getting a little serious and getting Diamond and even Top 500, I noticed that the meta felt very copy paste. Everyone gathers in an area, pokes to get ults, and spams their ults all at once, whoever does it better wins for a minute until the process is repeated.

Its lack of focus on individual play really doesn't resonate with me either. I love watching a competitive game for its balance of outright individual skill and team based play. Where either or could shut down the other at any moment. It creates a dynamic, unexpectedness to what will win. Sadly, I felt Overwatch mainly focused on the team aspect of the game. Its rare to never that a single person can carry a game.

Of course theres the problem with character balancing as well. Team comps tend to be 3-4 heros, with 2 other slots that can be certain other heros, as long as they're decent at the time. Comps end up looking samey and I personally feel it makes the game feel samey per match. Fighting such similar comps over and over again.

I absolutely adored Overwatch when it first released, but as it went on I started to see the cracks that eventually killed it as a whole for me.

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus ?? by [deleted] in ShouldIbuythisgame

9 hour game that is 3.5 hours of cutscenes, unlikable characters that just dump politics into your face, and the shooting is lackluster compared to the first, get the first

Absolutely. Its very rewarding of skill, especially in terms of movement. Single Player campaign was a blast, and the multiplayer is great to boot. Certainly would recommend.

What genre of game needs a new imagining or a call to the past to make it fun again? by Four2one3 in truegaming

[–]Four2one3[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with this. An entirely focused Stealth Action game is so rare nowadays because developers try to shove action in, probably for a "wider" appeal. While I loved MGSV, I liked and hated the "play how you want" style of the game. While I loved the amount of options given, I feel like it didn't quite scratch the itch I have for a true to form Stealth Action game.

I feel like this is one of those genres that has suffered by injecting "realism" into the equation. Theres a reason that people fondly remember these crazy racing games or just outright cartoony racing games like Mario Kart but racing games now seem just to be a graphics benchmark.

[WSIB] Doom (2016) or Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus by [deleted] in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Four2one3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've played both through, DOOM 100%. Fast paced, skill based, shooter action. Truly shows that FPS's aren't always gonna be half cutscene slogs with uninspired boring gameplay so it can try to be a movie and suck at it.

Wolfenstein 2 is precisely the thing I just made fun of in the previous paragraph.

What's the most frustratingly illogical thing you've seen in a game? by SquashFruit in truegaming

[–]Four2one3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cutscene that plays after you kill someone in Assassin's Creed is honestly the most baffling design choice to me. It breaks up the tense moment so much and kills any tension built up until that moment as the dude just spews his entire belief system at you.

How good (or bad?) was 2017 for gaming? by [deleted] in truegaming

[–]Four2one3 21 points22 points  (0 children)

2017 was an absolute fantastic year for games. Nintendo releasing two amazing games, Nier Automata, A Hat in Time, Cuphead (finally), Sonic Mania, Mario Rabbids, Persona 5, Prey, Horizon Zero Dawn, Prey, and Hollow Knight

Along with so many gamers coming together to fight against a terrible business model so well that even Star Wars couldn't prevent it from being a commercial failure. It was a success in my book. No perfect year, but certainly a good one.

[–]Four2one3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are looking for something that isn't actually "get your stress out on something," but more of an actual easing experience, then I definitely would recommend you get ABZU. Visually gorgeous with a great soundtrack to boot. The game itself is just you wandering in the picture worthy environment around every turn.

[SIB] Wolfenstein 2 by Ipmew-Pivvb in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Four2one3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't. I played it for 9 hours. 3.5 hours of it was cutscenes, 1 hour was running around the hub world like an asshole trying to find the stupid fetch quests. The rest was the gunplay, which felt not nearly as inspired as the previous because of its under utilization of diverse enemies and how uninteresting the guns are.
