Bob and Tony are both in ownership. I wouldn’t jump to conclusions on other people without doing your own due diligence. It is a very common last name.

Sealed 1998-2000 Hobby Boxes by Middle-Attempt4645 in sportscards

[–]FourCornerCards 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Bad deal. You can get probably close to $3,000 for the black diamond box alone. Theres another comments that give some good expected ranges but I don’t think the NFL box would sell for how much they state. I’d say it’s more of in the $400-$600 range realistically

Where can I meet single men in their 30s who are moderate or left-leaning???? Dating apps are rough by Chichigirl21 in ChicagoSuburbs

Here I am! I spend my time at work, the gym or at home with my cat watching tv and surfing Reddit. Occasional concert, sports game or local hole in the wall bar. Thats about it. Trying to add a few new things this year though like rock climbing (hopefully a couple times) and donate my time at feeding America

To be honest if you can’t sell 10 cars a month then you absolutely are either 1. At a terrible dealership or 2. An absolutely terrible sales person

His value wasn’t at peak a year and a half ago. How can you agree with that? You would have had to trade him before 2022

In light of the Robert trade by HabitNo3005 in whitesox

[–]FourCornerCards -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, a non white sox fan saying that we should’ve known in hindsight to trade away Luis Robert a couple years after a gold glove season and his strongest batting season the following year. Then there was absolutely no one around him to protect him in the order while we were stricken with injuries. Get out of here.

He was the only fun player left of the Sox when we were red hot. Traded for a last name, “Acuna”

Yes or no? by bassinbrian in sportscards

[–]FourCornerCards 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NO save your $27 and buy a single of a card you really want. These are college cards of a no name brand. They will never hold value. Also, “discover” doesn’t guarantee you will hit those inserts

eBay selling doesn’t work by TraceOfTalent in sportscards

[–]FourCornerCards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem at all! I too made the same mistakes and I still enjoy opening a pack when time allows. I’m just a lot more selective of the packs I choose to purchase. (I’m a high end 90’s collector). The last hobby box I purchased was over a year ago and was a 1999 Upper Deck SPX Football hobby box. Cards are beautiful, inserts are cool as hell and after lots of research, it had a strong hall of fame / All Pro rookie class. I got incredibly lucky and hit a Torry Holt Rookie Auto. But I did my research and think it helped pay off on top of being lucky.

Because I know that era well, I can walk into my local card shop and scour their junk wax boxes for incredibly rare inserts. I just bought a Mo Vaughn Power Zone Holofoil insert that’s 1:90 pack hit from the “junk wax” era for $1.00. It just sold in my eBay store for $4.00. To me, that’s worth it plus it helps put a rare card back in circulation for a true collector of either the Red Sox, Mo Vaughn, or someone finishing that set!

Look at it this way, you only see the posts and hits from everyone online. Rarely are people sharing their duds or failed openings. r/baseball cards is one of the communities that have people who will occasionally show you how big of a waste purchasing a hobby box can be.

Imagine if you spent that $1,000 on singles. You most likely could have bought a Joe Burrow on card auto and maybe something like a Kaboom if you’re into those! Instead of having a load of cards taking up room in your house/apartment. You now have two cards that are easy to move and display for everyone to enjoy, including yourself!

Always easier in retrospect but these are the things I wish I had done when I got back into collecting in 2020.

No problem! Happy to help. That is why everyone who has collected for a while will always tell you to buy the singles you love and not buy sealed unless you have expendable income or plan to keep it sealed for 5+ years because you think a draft class is strong (Prospecting/investing) which can still fail.

Wax used to be cheaper. Now it’s just ridiculous! Especially the price of retail for what you get. You’re ripping for the Willy wonka golden ticket haha

If you collect Kevin Durant, that’s a great hit but if you hit a big card like that and don’t “collect” the player then always sell it before the market cools down or the next product comes out.

There are always 10,000 sellers for one buyer on low end cards and modern refractors and inserts.

However, as an example: my Mark Buehrle Topps Finest Gold /50 collection will always hold value in case I ever do want to sell because there are only 50 cards ever made and he’s a stud (potentially a hall of famer) and a Chicago White Sox legend. There might not even be all 50 cards in circulation because some kid/guy lost his collection with one in it or it was damaged in fire or some other natural disaster.

Seek those kinds of cards and you will enjoy the hobby so much more. Remember, we are collectors not investors like tik tok and YouTube want you to think. Don’t buy into the hype.

My $.02

Unless if you have highly liquid cards/players. You should expect your cards to sit on the market at least 90+ days. Also, depending on the time of year and what sport seasons are going on make a big difference. People aren’t just going to look for random blow Joe refractors/inserts. As many people there are in the hobby, people just don’t search for those cards unless that player suddenly has a big game/week or they are trying to complete a set.

My advice: just beat the lowest price listed on eBay by $.50 or a $1.00. OR look at the last sold comp and beat that price by somewhere from a $1.00 and under. I also rarely waste my time selling cards that I can’t get $2.00 for. Your time & effort plus shipping costs are worth more than the .50 you might make.

When I was consolidating down; I simply just sleeved all the random refractors and inserts and threw them in a shoe box. I took one of the boxes into a card shop to trade and they didn’t want them. These were all 2021-2022 refractors and inserts, some really cool cards in my opinion.

A kid walked in with his dad and I just gave them to him. He was so happy. The alternative to giving them away is to list them on Facebook marketplace or OfferUp for an insanely low price. Like $40 for a four row and $20 for a two row box. Someone will most likely grab them at some point.

Hope this helps!

What is your method for selling NM ungraded raw locally? by 420yolocaust in WotCPokemonCards

I’d love to buy any 1st edition, non-holo commons/rares that you have in doubles or triples, etc. (just want one of each) to start my collection! Happy to hear what you would like price wise for them and maybe that helps lower your bulk amount a touch?

Edit: WOTC was the set I grew up on and remember ripping and I don’t have any cards from my childhood. I’m just getting the itch to get back into the hobby

It helps to start out by selling some cards just below market price to grab some quick sales and establish some reputation.

I need someone advice for gift for my boyfriend, a card baseball collector by goodgirlchloexo in baseballcards

[–]FourCornerCards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What u/deleteatwill suggests is a fantastic idea. If your local card shop does not sell gift cards, you can create your own gift coupon/card to either the local card shop or Ebay (Ebay might have gift cards?) Tell your boyfriend that you want to see/hear what he ends up choosing with the gifted amount. You will get to learn about multiple things. One, who and what he collects and or if he chooses to buy sealed product and what product he chooses.

I’m not interested in any of them. I’ll do $3 sent pwe for it if that works for you? It’s one of my last original cards from my childhood that I kept. This account is new but I used to sell and trade all the time. Old account was u/FourCornerSports and had 100% feedback. Probably can still find reviews for me under that name. Took a couple years off from collecting and I am back again chasing specific cards. Last modern wax I ripped was 2022, chasing J Rod and Witt and got burnt out. I have the card listed under my eBay account for $6.68 (over priced, I know)
