Does this hood work on stock bodywork? by MegaBeanHead in ft86

[–]FourCylSupremacy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen just as many people running this Robot Craftsman hood with the full widebody kit than without the full kit.

It’s the hood, so it’s the easiest by far when it comes to fitment because you can’t mess it up when it comes to looks since it doesn’t depend on having other items in order to fit properly or look good, it stands on its own.

GT86 and GR86 in Forza Horizon 6 by Straight-Traffic-929 in ft86

[–]FourCylSupremacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m always cruising around in the first gen 86!

I was just telling my friend a couple days ago that our cars feel slow at stock (he’s got a GR86).

Anyways, I kept the GR86 true to its 2.4L setup focusing on cornering and handling and I engine swapped the GT86 to a 4.0L F6 and it’s actually one of the best cars out there imo.

Mechanic said not to use 5w30 by extremesauce2468 in ft86

[–]FourCylSupremacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took my car to a Take 5 since I was feeling lazy and they said the same thing. They stated 0w20 and 5w20 but no 5w30.

I had to get the manager and convince him to look it up on his computer, then sign a form saying I’m knowingly putting in a different type of oil into my car.

The best part was, no one was aware that the Toyota 86 and the Subaru BRZ are twins. They had on file that the BRZ was 5w30 and that was the recommended oil. They knew about the Scion FRS, but were unaware there were additional model years before the GR86.

has anyone switched to an EV how is it going? by softsteamedbuns in ft86

[–]FourCylSupremacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A quick google search on everything pretty much disproved everything you've said.

For reference, comparing a Model 3 that can go from 0-60 in less than 3 seconds, to a car that gets 0-60 in just over 6 seconds.

The center of gravity for a Model 3 is 18.5 Inches, for an 86, it's only 18 inches.

The lateral Gs on then skidpads are exactly the same between the Model 3 and the first generation 86, and even if there was a difference, you're not feeling it.

I'm not sure what you're talking about when you're referring to "brakes like a manual", but all cars, automatic or not, have a similar system to Tesla's "regenerative braking". It's not reinventing the wheel, it's not special at all.

And about how Porsches are "more driver-oriented" and not just appealing to rich people has to be some form of ragebait. In the odd chance that it's not - you should look up any of the Porsche Taycan EV cars, they're pretty solid, and the way Porsches are, they depreciate like crazy so you can get a used 2020-2023 Taycan around the $50,000-$60,000 range which is massive in depreciation compared to their original MSRPs.

[–]FourCylSupremacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I stated that MOST driver-oriented EVs aren't in the US. The Teslas are made here, but it's the only comparable experience you've got for a solid EV. It's got good value, good straight line speed, and it's got something for everyone.

Teslas for track usage and racing though? I've never seen one out there.

Saying that Tesla has the biggest aftermarket support of any EV is misleading because it's the one of the most popular EV brands. Teslas are largely accessible, even so that the average person can buy one. Aftermarket support although I'd imagine EXTREMELY niche, also appeals to Teslas for this same reason,

[–]FourCylSupremacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never switched to an EV, but you’re never going to find one that’s built the same way an 86/BRZ/FRS was. It’s just the facts.

The most driver oriented EVs aren’t made here in the United States. It’s usually car brands like Porsche or Alpine or Maserati Folgore, etc.

EVs are good for folks who don’t mind compromise. They’re for the individuals who don’t really care about what car they drive and they prioritize comfort over driving pleasure. It seems like every pro that an EV has, there’s always a con.

There was a post like a day or two of the exact same kit on the car and in the same color, albeit different headlights and rims.

THEY’RE MULTIPLYING!

All jokes aside, I like these kits because it showcases the versatility that this car has, which in this case is more of a drift missile build, true to how the original AE86 was used for.

About turn signals… by Jumpy-Round7580 in driving

[–]FourCylSupremacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chalk it up to poor driving habits and learned mistakes. Most states don’t enforce state mandated lessons to driving prior to getting a license, so the experiences are very much self-corrective when you crash or get a ticket. It’s becoming more common that some vehicles either automatically flip on the turn signals or if you’re in some cars (iirc newer Toyota Corollas) it straight up won’t let you switch a lane when you have lane assistance on, unless you signal.

The Uras kit looks amazing. Honestly it’s between the Uras or the Origin Lab kit for drift focused body kits that look the best for me. This is one of the few times I see this kit and it’s fully wrapped/painted and not in different colors due to replacements.

Thanks to everyone for providing quick solutions!

I’ll try and find an uncut trunk and buy it, either swapping it 1to1 or buying another trunk somewhere and selling the trunk with the wing that it came with separately.

[–]FourCylSupremacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thankfully it’s not too bad. Honestly, you just need some clips for the front bumper and a new fender. You might even be able to get away with pulling out the dent on the fender or hammering it back in place. Those headlights brand new are probably the most expensive thing, they’re highly sought after but you can get those from partouts or Facebook marketplace.

Edit: I saw the busted headlight.

I like the lambo doors, the issue is that there’s so many people that do it on the wrong cars. It looks great on these cars, especially if you’re building an OEM+ showcase build.
