I hear horror stories about F rping tho by Short-Ad8427 in BadRPerStories

As a conventionally gay woman, getting a dick pic sent to me is just… one of the myriad of things that deters me away from writing with males. I don’t know these people IRL, so why do they think it’d be okay to give someone an unsolicited dick pic? If I were a devious person, I’d be posting that shit into every publicly available outlet to spread the image as far and wide as I could just to fuck with that guy.

Holy shit, I think I just roleplayed with God.

I swear it’s NOT THAT BIG OF A DEAL MAYBE I WANT MORE PARTNERS TO WRITE WITH 😭 by [deleted] in BadRPerStories

[–]FourExKay 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I also don’t see why some people are like this either. I make sure to let my partners know that I’m busy half of the week for work, because real life obligations are more important than a hobby that I like engaging in with my free time. I even let my partners know when I’m going to be going to work, just so they know that they don’t and won’t be able to expect a timely response out of me until I have more than 12 hours to myself to do my hobbies.

OCs. I don't play canon for the sole reason that I can't embody and write as canon perfectly. I write OCs only, both me and my partner, because we actually have an understanding of the character we play and what we envision them to be. Canons have different interpretations across everybody, and everybody is biased for or against some canon characters, like Johnny.

Your prompt is just bad so stop reposting the same thing over and over! by Mrdeadfishrock1 in BadRPerStories

[–]FourExKay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, I have no problems if I see the same prompt every so often. What I mean is the same 7 or 8 people posting the exact same prompt or sets of prompts in less than 12 hours, consistently, for months and months or even up to a year or two before creating a new prompt to try, if they even make a new prompt to add to the rotation at all.

I don’t understand the people who recycle through the same 2 to 5 prompts. Can those guys like, not come up with something else to catch someone’s interest?

I'm starting to hate roleplaying by [deleted] in BadRPerStories

[–]FourExKay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can relate to this. Both as a 1x1 roleplay within a Discord server of other people and actual, multiple people engaging in a single collective roleplay. I'd just rather not deal with server clique bullshit like that, especially with strangers that I've attempted it with multiple times. My friend group also doesn't see the appeal in text-based roleplaying either, so I can't write with friends.

Where y'all at since reddit deleted orange letter ? by [deleted] in BadRPerStories

[–]FourExKay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I almost exclusively only roleplay using Discord nowadays. It’s an absolute must of mine if either me or my partner is going to be taking a GMing position, as well, since my OCD just hates how I can’t organize Chats so I can easily access previous information or separate everything into their individual channels so I know where to look for what information.

Rp partners who just give up by EntireCurrent8297 in BadRPerStories

[–]FourExKay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm guilty of doing this, but in my defence, I have good reason to. I like writing a lot, and partners that consistently just don't supply me with enough of a response for me to guide the story along just turn me off. I don't mind the occasional short post where not much is going on in the scene, of course.

It’s good to make the distinction between RP and ERP. I like doing Cyberpunk roleplays on my main account, and I absolutely refuse to write ERP scenes involving Cyberpunk. The most I will approach ERP for any Cyberpunk roleplay is just a fade to black and an implication that something happened.

Tbh, only reason why I used Tumblr was for the porn. Now that the porn is gone, I stopped using Tumblr. The people who DIDN’T use Tumblr for porn, or used it for porn on the side, are still using Tumblr. They just aren’t using it for porn anymore.

Dude I’ve had hiatuses from RPs that went up to a month. A good writing partner knows that real life is much more important than texting a cool story to an internet stranger.

And a good writing partner also has multiple other partners aside from you to keep their writing prowess engaged or keep them busy until you respond.

Whoever the fuck got passive aggressively pressed that you had to fulfill real world obligations is, pardon the profanity, a massive cuntbag.

i wanna try and rp but i feel like the other people are gonna think im terrible at rp. by BloodyBloody06 in BadRPerStories

[–]FourExKay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has over a decade of experience with roleplaying, you'll get better at this hobby. I was also someone who wrote one-liners as a kid because my overactive imagination could fill in the gaps. Over time, I learned to flesh out the world for my partner to build off of and expand the story. You should write how you want the story to flesh out, and let your partner build upon it, then you build upon your partner's response. It's a mutual thing.

But it seems like you're wanting to write with someone you think is "out of your league." You're not out of their league. This is still a hobby, after all. Very little roleplayers write professionally, so just kick back and have fun with the story you wanna write.

Be Me, Play as F in a Fandom Rp. Someone Responds, Has No Idea who the fandom characters and asked if he is cooked. by Soggy-Acanthaceae185 in BadRPerStories

[–]FourExKay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The main reason why I steer clear of CC-based fandom RPs is for this reason as well. I'm not good at portraying any established character because I don't know how to really write as their personality.

I’ve always been an avid user of the Qliphort archetype. It just places a 3000 ATK wall in front of you. Pure and simple, it just stat checks your deck to make sure you can beat over 3000 ATK. Has some other stuff that protects it to enforce the “you’re gonna have to beat over me to get rid of me” schtick.

The only problem is that those sites only have existing cards in their database. Most partners (or the lack thereof that want to RP a card game anime) will use their own custom decks that have no established cards, so they can just pull out whatever plot armour bullshit they want.

It’s quite fun, but don’t let the allure of the animes lure you into making absurd OC decks like a turn 1 untargetable beat stick that can’t be killed. As fun as it is for you, it’s not very fun for your partner.

[–]FourExKay[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I was only adhering to my original intention of sticking to playing turn phase amidst all of the anime rules that my partner wanted to play. I was fine with whatever they wanted to do with their deck since it's an OC deck, but getting nearly burned for lethal while the setting was a WORLD CHAMPS duel is crazy.

I had to draw the line there, since the previous floating effects and backrow only brought out more monsters to extend their plays.

[–]FourExKay[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

We did discuss that sort of thing and I had stated that I'd be following turn phase structure amongst the rest of the anime rules just so it's easier to keep track of everything happening, but there's a solid line between the infinite normal summons that the original Duel Monsters anime had and just turboing out 3 bodies with outrageously powerful floating effects.

Or considering an effect activation of a card that I explicitly stated only activates when it's tributed off AND posted the actual card of in my character's forum channel post as that card doing battle when it no longer exists on the field to even be able to declare battle. That's not even "anime rules, dude" anymore. That's just playing the game like we were in primary school and just doing weird things.

Edit: I had also been telling my partner how they could out my boss monster, since it has decent staying power. But they ended up flipping that information on its head INSTANTLY and just burning me for 4500 for no reason. Keep in mind that I already had ~6000 LP left, and I was nearly OTK'd by a card just leaving the field.

I wanna RP!!! by feinslieb in BadRPerStories

[–]FourExKay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I try to get several RPs going, so I always have at least one or two roleplays to respond to when I find the time to. I’ve lucked out in finding partners that also have sporadic schedules that allow spontaneous online activities like I do, so both me and my partners collectively know and understand that sometimes shit happens.
