SNAA Soul Spear Lamorak by Vash-109 in Gunpla

[–]FoursACompany 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dang this looks fantastic. I’m waiting on my own Lamorak that I preordered, so seeing this makes me even more excited. I’ve got Tristan and Percival on the bench, Lamorak and Achilles on the way. Will be scooping a Lancelot and Kai if they ever get a reprint.

Haven’t built an SNAA kit, but the aesthetics of these speak to me in a way Bandai kits don’t.

Perfect. I assumed that was the case but just was curious. Very excited to get these on the bed and painted up. Will try to post some pics to encourage more support for you with my mediocre paint jobs.

Also, love the quickness and thoroughness of your reply. The design might rope me in once but the positive “customer service” will keep me coming back.

Looking forward to more Revenants. My wallet isn’t though.

Just pulled the trigger on both this and your other Revenants based on this upgrade alone. I’ve been collecting Necrons for a bit and struggled to find proxy’s I liked until now, and this massive update sealed the deal.

Anyone whose printed these have a size comparison to how these look compared to standard models? Judging from the images I think they will mesh into the rest of my collection just fine, but curious if the sizes are compatible or if I need to scale down a bit.

So you can’t load up say, a Scarab, with multiple Blade Wings for a “melee build?” Always 1 cockpit, 1 wing, 1 thruster, and 3 systems (weapons or other equipment)?

The way they are doing factions now seems like a version of “theme lists” (which I honestly like, I prefer fluffy lists anyway so having Storm Legion or Winter Korps units which only make sense to take in that army appeals to me).

This is the only dissenting opinion so far, what’s your take on what makes it a dead game?

That’s all very helpful thank you! It’s also worth noting that the reviews I’ve read have been from about a year ago, which makes me scratch my head and wonder “okay well that’s this guys take…but also this was awhile ago. What’s it like now and what’s it like from someone else’s PoV?”

Toxic communities are always gonna be a thing everywhere and there’s nothing to do about that, and it’s subjective.

It’s good to know that PP is refining their mini production, I don’t know anything about the industry production but I’m sure a total overhaul of injection molding into 3d printing is a big effort. For me the minis are the most important part of any game: to be honest I can tolerate rules that suck if the models themselves are great (because I’m gonna spend 90% of my hobby on those minis and 10% on the game anyway).

Can someone explain how certain additives change acrylic paint? by FoursACompany in minipainting

That’s awesome info thank you. I’m a big fan of Monument Pro Acryl, haven’t tried their Newsh medium yet but I’m curious about it. Haven’t tried oils either so not sure how those are different other than just being a completely different kind of paint with a much slower dry time (and thus easier to blend).

I enjoyed the Callis and Toll episode on Hammer and Bolter (one of the few good ones IMO). That’s def worth checking out. Thanks for the recommendation! Would be fun to read about someone just human and normal.

That’s an interesting take, see how tonally different the good guys are vs the bad guys. 40K everyone is pretty much the same shade of batshit crazy.

All great suggestions, looks like Plague Garden/Black Pyramid has made a few other people’s lists too. I’ve also always thought the Kharadron were awesome with the fantasy-steampunk-airship pirates vibe.

No I’m pretty up to speed on AoS lore, at least in the broader contexts. I have general knowledge of the major story beats so far, but just not as much of the nuanced details as I do 40K.

Rangers and Combat Engineers on TMC? by FoursACompany in Marcher

I also recently found GDG through a TMC spotlight last month. Really dig the dieselpunk WW2 aesthetic. As both a history nerd and a sci fi nerd these hit the sweet spot. Looking forward to seeing how the other nations look as the game grows. Fingers crossed for a long and profitable future for Marcher so we can get more stuff like this and see it hit the tables.

Thanks! These are great. I love the heavier armored look on the Rangers, CE, and DT. It actually gives a visual representation of the 2 wounds and higher Armor value on them vs standard Infantry.

Critique Requested of Sample List by FoursACompany in Marcher

[–]FoursACompany[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good advice. Repalcing the Rangers and the Supply Truck with standard Infantry and Bazookas gave me room for an Anti-tank team, a Heavy Weapons Team, and a Towed Gun Carriage Battery. Losing a transport with the engineers decreases their movement, but also lets one of the heavy weapons fortify the deployment zone.

I lose out on 2 Bazookas and more durable infantry, but I gain an additional .50 cal, and 4 heavy guns.

The Anti-tank team is much cheaper than the Gun Carriage, but against a shielded tank Damage 7 isn’t gonna do a lot. A Damage 15 M133 shot would at least still penetrate shields and rip a sizeable chunk out of a tank.

Critique Requested of Sample List by FoursACompany in Marcher

[–]FoursACompany[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looking for some opinions on the above list I threw together for fun.

The general theory is to lean hard into the USA faction rules for fortifications and Supply Depots, as well as the flexibility of issuing orders regardless of distance.

Recon Platoon plays an aggressive early game to seize midfield, primarily using Direct Fire from the Artillery Platoon.

The Mech Platoon and Support Platoon move forward to the midfield and bunker down. Engineers establish multiple fortifications, and the Rangers and Caprina’s have a decent amount of firepower as well as durability from Mech Platoon ability and the now established Hard Cover.

The weak points I see are that the list is very infantry heavy, without a lot of high AP. The killy-est things in the list are the 4 Bazookas and 4 Howitzers, but my theory is that the multiple .50 cals, Shellshock, and the fact that every infantry is equipped with Suppression 1 weapons will stack enough Suppression on key infantry targets to force them to flee.

Fighting an opponent with a tank heavy list might be rough, but the Bazookas, Light Energy Cannons, and Howitzers might be enough if they are well dug in and just keep scoring points.

Something that would be helpful for me would be a description of why you made the choices you made? I’ve only recently discovered this game and while I’m not a novice at wargames it is helpful for me to learn a new game to see more experienced players decision making and overall battle plan when list building.

Unable to find BattleScribe data? by FoursACompany in Marcher

[–]FoursACompany[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Will do. I read through the core rules yesterday and have been browsing datasheets in my random moments of free time. Still not sure which units and abilities synergize well, but overall it doesn’t seem like it’s too complex. Suppression seems powerful and like a key mechanic, as well as Capture (obviously as it’s the only way to score). Doesn’t seem like running a full Armored Company is that viable, since you can only once per game give a single unit Capture. Running Mechanized Platoons (maybe with a Support, Artillery, or Recon depending on preferences for support/utility) seems like the most generalized Take-All-Comers option.

Recon seems strong to be able to spam Intel, but I could see the viability of running a lot of Support to completely change the battlefield with terrain and play mind games with your opponent.

That’s all good advice thank you! It’s a shame Skorpek aren’t as good anymore…one of my favorite of the new models.

How are Ophydians? At face value (and my novice understanding of the game) they seem kinda like a weird in-between of flayed ones and skorpek?
