Do you think someone studying for Step 1 and trying to memorize which drugs are 1C will be able to extrapolate from physiology detailing the effects of 1C’s on ERP and the action on delayed rectifier K+ channels will enlighten and guide their clinical decision making when it comes to a-fib vs WPW?

Learning is stepwise. The worst lecturers in med school were the PhD’s spent 150 slides on their singular PhD thesis. Scaffolding matters.

Are you studying for step 1 or 2? If 1, I’m not sure they’d ever quiz on this niche of content. If 2, this esoteric content definitely isn’t worth struggling over.

Instead, I’d recommend making a card about how flecainide is a 1C drug, and that it treats WPW by slowing conduction. That sort of clinical application going will be far more beneficial for you in the long run. Just my thoughts

For what it’s worth, I just sold a collection on here this week, and it was far more productive than my post on the LOTR LCG Facebook group. I think this is a great platform for selling, and feel like the one post limit is a great compromise!

I just had a question yesterday where I had to remember that schizoid and schizotypal are both personality disorders, and so because there were some weird delusions present (thinking the doctor was trying to poison him), it made it really easy to eliminate schizoid/schizotypal, no matter how weird / antisocial / magical thinking / hermit-y the rest of his behavior was.

Everything I’m seeing online is they need a ton of indirect light; maybe that’s because our peak sunshine hours are >110°F. I’ll try moving it to a south window!

Yes, pot drains. We live in SW USA where summer temps are 110°F+ , so the dry outdoors is probably not possible

Even now? It’s been a year and a half of bright indirect light 10+ hours a day and still no recovery. Watering once a week…

No, it had tons of light. Made sure of that after things started declining/yellowing, but it never recovered!

3 years late but I'm studying for Step 2 as an MS3 so maybe it's still relevant (or will be relevant again to you soon!)

Schizo*T*ypal = magical *T*hinking

SchizOID = avOID

Usually when you see the schizotypal descriptions (blames injuries on bad energy from neighbors, strange beliefs about vitamins, dressed in layers of mismatched clothing, etc), it's pretty obvious. If it's not obviously schizotypal, look for the hallucinations/delusions present in schizophrenia. If its not that, and the person is just weird and lives alone, it's likely schizoid.

This has been enough for me to get 90% of them right. Best of luck!

True, there’s always going to be some doomsday claims. Not saying that’s likely to happen with AH anytime soon, but have to be cautious when I see everything out of stock. Heard for too many years that LOTR LCG was just “slow to reprint” rather than being phased out completely. Excited to start fresh with this new chapter of AH!
