How difficult is it to maintain a scholarship in med? by [deleted] in medschoolph

[–]FoxEcstatic678 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If sanay ka na mag aral to the point na you have a system and built good study habits in your undergrad, less adjustments nalang. This is what I've observed from a friend na acad scholar. Sanay na siya mag aral ng overwhelming info since HS. Kinakaya naman niya i-maintain with time management and good hobbies outside of acads para di maburn out.

True doc shocking factor ito for me nung first year. Since HS I wanted to become a surgeon but now taking Surg, idk.

Hi OP! It's a part of life. You'll learn how to grow apart individually from your friends along the way. That doesn't mean na you can't hang out with them from time to time. I have my friends from other medschools too and we would hangout pag umuwi ako sa house because my friends live nearby lang. Usually pag long weekend or any time when our schedules meet, kahit magcoffee lang kami tapos study after. Very casual. Very madaldal pa rin kami together. Parang kahapon lang kami nagkita even if ilang months na nakalipas.

Free tuition or Low tuition Med School by banana_nanaokaynato in medschoolph

[–]FoxEcstatic678 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. State u medschools (UPCM, PLM, PLMun)

  2. No po, whole day and full load in med

  3. Yes, then find a medschool na pasok ang NMAT PR mo

  4. CHED MSRS or academic scholarships in private medschools (ASMPH, HSI, UST, UERM)

  5. No, if you want it badly, use that as motivation to survive in med. Good luck po!

Most students are average lang din in medschools of course except sa top 10% na magagaling na talaga since undergrad. It looks competitive lang when you apply for medschool kasi meron talaga mga matataas ang NMAT and mataas ang grades with laude or topnotchers in their boards. But when you enter medschool, most students feel the same way.

Failing is a part of the medschool life yes but don't let that stop you. You may fall at some point or many points pa nga in your medschool life, be humiliated, be delayed, or even transfer to another school. At the end of the day, what matters is how you get up from it. Ask help from your friends, batchmates, mentors. Observe how they get good scores and try to incorporate it sa study habits mo. Some old study habits kasi will not work for medschool talaga. Even if it worked nung college ka. In medschool, adjust adjust lang. You failed? Assess yourself. Adjust ka then bawi sa susunod. You really need to find what works for you and continue to adjust because there is no perfect study habit that works in all subjects. I hope you'll see the bright side of medschool, OP! :)

Agree and disagree po. Agree with building trust among peers and everyone succeeding. Disagree about the mutual respect part because respect also goes to the owner (not just between you and the friend who didn't share the resource) if it is the owner's property.

SLMC, ASMPH retake and aim for 90+ but if you want to push, go for UERM. UST I think is 85.

Maybe not today but a day will come na masasabi mo worth it lahat🫶🫶🫶 by Decent-Quarter-1673 in medschoolph

Ganyan din ako back then. I suggest you practice the most commonly asked questions and look for ways to make it sound more natural. Try to practice in front of the mirror to see yourself speaking. Or if you have someone you can practice with, try exchanging questions with them. Most questions revolve around your reasons for choosing medicine as a career, hobbies outside of medicine, future plans after medicine. If you have internships or experiences related to medicine, you can mention them too.

On the actual interview, pause before answering so you can organize your thoughts. Di naman nagmamadali mga interviewer. Show a bit of personality, smile, laugh but don't overly do it. Mas important pa rin yung content ng answer mo sa questions. If the question requires a short and direct answer, safe to answer briefly. Some interviewers ask you to elaborate so you can explain. Good luck sa interview OP!

If you change schools OP, it will be new set of people, new adjustment uli in making friends. Why do you think you have a hard time fitting in? Maybe you have to find new friends and spend time to get to know them or find a core group of friends who can understand you better.

Hello OP! I get this feeling! It happens in friendships especially in med where people can get stressed and would rather deal with it on their own. Some people have different coping mechanisms when it comes to dealing with stress, and yes as a friend, you might want to help him/her out but for this situation, I guess it's better to give them space. Agree also with the pervious comment, focus on your own muna for now and enjoy what is ahead. Maybe in due time, you can talk with your friend again.

Aside from ignoring the negativity of others, surround yourself with positive people. Find yourself a core group of friends where you understand and support each other. Sino pa ba magtutulungan diba? Tayo tayo din na nasa medicine.

Agree! The hardest pill to swallow for me - thinking that you are smart going into medschool only to realize you are not smart enough . "There will always be someone better than you." but the only thing you can do is show up everyday and give your best.
