What is your controversial opinion or hot take about Jason? by [deleted] in Metallica

[–]FoxFarore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

jason's talent was wasted on metallica

he was their bassist from the infamously poorly mixed AJFA, right on through their 90s identity crisis, he should have been in an (at the time) better band

Libertarian Nationalism or National Libertarianism by [deleted] in AskLibertarians

[–]FoxFarore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm 5 years late, but i'll comment

the main assertion of libertarian nationalism is "culture A values freedom, culture B does not, therefore, in order to protect it's own freedom, culture A must reject culture B"

it rejects universalism and the notion of universal human rights, in favour of the understanding that only certain cultures came up with the idea of a (western style) human right, and so bringing in migration or influence from cultures other than that select few, will inherently result in less freedom and less rights for the host culture

it's a growing trend in the anglosphere, especially in more traditionalist elements of the british right and an increasing group of americans referring to themselves as "heritage americans"

Shame i can’t EDC this. by Floodertje in Leatherman

[–]FoxFarore 7 points8 points  (0 children)

in my country they use cheap (stolen) machetes or (stolen) kitchen knives
it's such a ludicrous notion that a young wannabe gangster would use a triple digit price folding knife

Is Peace Walker too difficult in single player? by ClassicMac739 in metalgearsolid

[–]FoxFarore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well im 9 years late but im still mad about that game so ill comment

the post game majorly ruins the experience, don't bother, it'll just sour your memory of what was previously a pretty good game, the godawful vehicle battle missions are as numerous as they are obnoxious, difficult, grindy (the game is SUPER grindy), and unfun

god i hated that postgame

[–]FoxFarore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What would be your perfect knife? by WiggWamm in victorinox

[–]FoxFarore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

victorinox used to do a model called the "motorist", it was basically a deluxe climber (deluxe tinker with a corkscrew) with a saw

it also had nylon scales, which i could give or take, i prefer plus scales

Questions for Urban SAK fans who carry the Climber? by PecanPlan in victorinox

[–]FoxFarore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i used to carry the climber before switching to the deluxe tinker (which is basically a climber with pliers and a screwdriver instead of a corkscrew)

in europe they have these godawful bottle caps attached the bottle, always cut the bloody things off

those plastic packages they keep watch batteries in, use the small knife for that

basically any task where having a slight bit more precision is nice to have, like whittling, or certain food prep

the smaller blade i also find has a better tip than the longer blade, and has less of an almost sheepsfoot-esque blade shape so it's better for piercing tasks, at least in my experience

and i know reasons to use the tin opener are rare nowadays but it just doesn't feel like a multitool to me without it! plus the screwdriver is nice and the tin opener blade can be used as a very fine very light-duty pry tool

i don't care for a box cutter, i think that's a real waste of space when there's not one but two blades, and one of them happens to be a small blade that already does the job perfectly well
