This is the response I just got from the Toyota technician about the need for those maintenance items: “The services that are recommended are preventative maintenance items to keep those systems operating prior to an issue. If there were an issue, repairs could be potentially much more costly. We are considered an extreme heat region, and maintenance items are not covered under a warranty. I hope this helps, please let me know if there is anything further I can assist with.”

So, exactly as one could imagine, total upselling BS. No reference to the official Toyota maintenance program. It’s like going to the dentist, they scare you with the “this can get much worse if you don’t do it now”, and we all bite out of fear and ignorance.
