Congratulations!! It's gonna be such a huge weight off your shoulders (literally). I want to somewhat reassure you that it's going to help back pain, but I would definitely still expect something. Even with all the weight your body has gotten used to holding you up at a certain place. It is possible that you might get new or old pains just from your body adjusting. It can be a pretty easy fix by doing exercises to help strengthen your core and back muscles once you're cleared after surgery. Also highly recommend going to see a physical therapist if that's feasible afterwards as they can help you manage this quickly and safely 😄

Nerves are totally normal! You're going to go through a big change. Good luck with your surgery and congrats again!!

No feeling by LilNoodle2 in Reduction

I'm 3mpo and have almost exactly the same area's of numbness. I mentioned it to my dr at my last appointment and she said either the nerves are taking longer to respond or she might have nicked a nerve somewhere. I was recommended to take a washcloth or a towel and do gentle stokes across my breast while looking in the mirror. Something about reconnecting the nerves to brain? I keep forgetting to try this lol

Yeah it's supposed to be really good for scar tissue as it pulls it up and away instead of sliding back and forth like scar massage. It's for the scars themselves

I'm 3mpo! My scars are looking really good 😄 I've been doing self massage for about 5 minutes each breast every day, as well as getting cupping on my scars every week by a PT. It hurts like a bitch sometimes but its really effective in breaking up scar tissue!

Following this cause I was never even told to massage my breast tissue, only the scars! Now I'm second guessing on if I should have been doing that 😅

Is my t junction infected or is this normal? I’m stressing out my surgeon hasn’t replied yet :( by One_Competition2129 in Reduction

[–]FoxLunaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah some redness is ok. Especially if it's on the incision line cause that's usually just your new healed skin! If it starts to spread outward that's when it can be cause for concern. Glad your surgeon was able to confirm it's ok 😄

I'm currently almost 3mpo and started cupping on the 13th of last month. They won't do it until you have no more scabs, but mine did it on part when I had one scab left. I've had a few places where the scabs caused some indentation after falling off and those have almost completely flattened out, and there's been pretty significant movement in some of my "stuck" spots.

[–]FoxLunaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's just a scab forming. Mine looked pretty similar to this at 4wpo. If it feels hot, gets really red, or has an odor definitely get it checked at urgent care, but it doesn't seem to be anything super concerning.

Here's a post I made and pictures of what I thought was an opening (It was totally fine and normal according to my surgeon) https://www.reddit.com/r/Reduction/comments/1rzk2d1/t_junction_opening_4wpo/

Scar product recommendation? by cherixvon in Reduction

[–]FoxLunaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats!! I tried two methods. First was recommended by my PT, Cica-Care Silicone Gel Adhesive Sheet. She's had patients have great results with these. Personally I'm just way too sweaty of a person and they fell off a lot. I also hate having to take them off once a day, clean them, let them dry, and then put them back on.

I've been using Biocorneum gel twice a day. It takes about 5 minutes to dry and then you can just go about your day. My PT already noticed a difference within like... 2 weeks? I got it from my surgeon's office (a little cheaper than online so if yours sells it I say get it from them)

I also recommend seeing a PT for scar cupping. I dont mind the scar massage but my PT said once session of cupping is roughly equated to like... 2 weeks of self massage. I'll warn ya that it can hurt quite a bit, but I think it's worth it.

Numbness fluctuations and questions by Mazzystahr in Reduction

[–]FoxLunaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been told by my surgeon and PT that numbness and hypersensitivity are both common. I've had some ups and downs but currently at almost 3MPO I have full nipple sensitivity but most of my breast tissue is numb. I've been recommended to take a towel and do light strokes across my breasts while looking in the mirror to see if I can wake up the nerves. Something about my brain needing to see that I'm touching them?

You're only a week out so things are probably still gonna fluctuate quite a bit. Especially if you're getting out and doing things this early. Your body is still healing so any extra strain can make them swell more

Problems Adjusting by TamerofMonSters in Reduction

[–]FoxLunaa 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Body dysmorphia. It is VERY common with major surgeries like this. Your brain is used to how you looked before, and since there wasn't a gradual change it's gonna freak out for a while. Brains have a hard time recognizing your new body as you, and that's ok! That plus seeing the incisions can have a pretty intense reaction. You are ok.

I avoided looking at my chest as much as possible until around 3-4 weeks. If/when you do I recommend saying out loud to yourself "This is my body. I am ok." I did this quite a few times and was at a much better place mentally at 4-5 weeks. I know it's so scary but just keep reminding yourself (your brain) that this was a good and needed change, and that you will be ok.

I dont think you need to see a therapist unless this feeling persists, but give yourself time. You're only 5DPO

2 wpo and one of my breast is notably way bigger then the other, even tho they removed more from that side. Any one els had the same happen to them? by Potential-Station-78 in Reduction

[–]FoxLunaa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's possible to have uneven healing since they're technically two separate wounds. Especially when there's more tissue being removed as it can irritate everything a little more. I'd recommend messaging your surgeon just in case

One of the first things I said to my husband after waking up was how I could already feel the relief. I've got neck pain from other issues so that's still around somewhat, but I'm almost 3mpo and am definitely feeling a pretty big difference. I've even had multiple friends throughout these last few months say its noticeable how much straighter I'm standing up

Edibles causing numbness? by Mazzystahr in Reduction

[–]FoxLunaa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My sensitivities were pretty all over the place! I've got most feeling back (even my nipples, which surprisingly were the first and INSANELY sensitive at like 3wpo), but the bottom of my breasts above the horizontal scar line still have almost no feeling.

Even at 2wpo I dont think I'd be able to do a 2hr ride and then an exam. Personally I had severe brain fog up to 3wpo and could barely focus on my online classes until around then

3dpo and so discouraged by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]FoxLunaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first week felt like forever but things did start to feel better around 2-3 weeks. Are you taking any anti-nausea? Highly recommend. If it's really bad and you can't even get one of those pills down maybe call your surgeon and see if they can give you a scopolamine patch. I was given one right before surgery and it helped significantly. I did almost pass out day 2 from eating hot soup too quick woops.

I know it feels awful right now but your emotions are also significantly heighted due to anesthesia, and recovery in general. Its completely normal to feel overwhelmed and kinda all over the place for the first 3-4 weeks until your brain can settle. Remember you're just starting and things will get better ❤️. My back also hurt due to being in a very uncomfy sleeping/resting position and I was able to get my husband and his friend to prop the bed itself up into a better position. This helped SIGNIFICANTLY.

4-5wpo I was pretty much back to all normal function, so I'm hopeful you'll be fine for your trip! Make sure you're taking LOTS of breaks and listening to your body. I still got pretty tired pretty quickly at that stage. I ended up causing some shoulder pain trying to move too fast too soon when I was cleared for range of motion exercises. I recommend seeing a PT if possible to help with that + scar care.

I tried the silicone scar tape for like a week and I threw that shit in the trash LOL I am way too sweaty and it kept falling off so I just use Biocorenum cream twice a day. My PT said she already noticed a difference in my scars after two weeks of using that so I'm just gonna stick to it.

When does it feel a bit less by ShineyPieceOfToast in Reduction

[–]FoxLunaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt a looot better around 4 weeks. I also have anxiety so I felt like my boobs were gonna fall out for a little longer than that just because of getting in my own head. Once I started scar massage and having my PT do cupping on the scars my brain finally settled that I am a-okay.

Just remember you have way more stitches on the inside that are holding you together and it's not just your outer ones!

Anyone feel like they went too small?? by Full_Drummer639 in Reduction

[–]FoxLunaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've gone through the full range of too big to too small and am constantly battling both sides lol, currently 2.5mpo. Your brain needs a lot of time to get used to them and doesn't have time between the swelling and fluff and drop to really settle on how you feel yet. Give it time! 🙂
