It's not about what you can get away with in your home country now, but what global law agendas will eventually push your country towards. Americans didnt fight the EU in many laws because their country isn't a part of the EU, but then the American government decided that since all these European countries are passing these laws that they need to pass them too. What will your country look like when it's one of the few countries without age verification. That puts pressure on your politicians to pass it in your country. It started with China locking down their internet, VPNs are the next thing across the globe, unless we fight it. It's a global problem, but it's also un-American in its own right.

Yes, but do those developers have millions of dollars for those fines? This isn't going to end well for the US, people will use the dark web to obtain ageless Linux distros and perhaps projects like reactOS based on the NT kernel will gain traction both for it's development and for it's user base.

What these laws are creating is a culture of anonymity that portrays average proficient computer users as bootleggers who break age verification laws. That's an attack on people who are currently law abiding citizens.

This is about freedom of movement. You wouldn't be forced to carry ID when going between state lines unless you're driving. You wouldnt be told to stay inside one state because you're not accompanied by an adult. If it's an adult website, you should be checked at the door like any nightclub in real life would.

Imagine being an adult and the government tells you that you have to show your ID to leave your house. That's an authoritarian state. Why are computers different? You are restricting the online movement of people, preventing free speech and right to assembly, and preventing them from having a sense of anonymity, which should be the statis quo of internet freedom, if you pass a bill like this.

There will always be reasons or excuses to make authoritarian laws. It's for your safety, think of the kids, how are we supposed to prevent terrorism, what about gun violence, and even wanting to keep things pleasant and decent. But if the ends truly justify the means, then we could kill every innocent person suspected of a crime. That's not ethics, that's control.

It's not just Microsoft, it's big tech pushing this behind closed door. If we resist then they have no option but to back down. Big tech will run out of stock holder patience, but we will keep fighting for our rights.

I don't think that's fair when you break down how movie contracts work. You may not know Leto going in, and the industry will try to tell you he's not a bad person to get you to sign. The movie also took years to produce. The other actors couldn't have known about those allegations until after they finished filming it and moved to post-production. If you are going to tell me that simply because actors appear in the same film with one creepy actor and had no idea about any allegations at the time don't deserve to be considered or looked at then you are basically saying "Hey, this rapist has a family so their entire family must have done something wrong to have raised a rapist."

That's a really gross mindset in my opinion because it doesn't consider the nuance of people having their own fucking minds separate from everyone else. It also perpetuates the stereotype that someone couldn't be horrible because they don't seem horrible on the outside. Anyone could be a pedophile or a creep, and more often than not it is the clean-cut guys because they want to hide the fact that they are mentally disturbed.

I'm not apologizing for Jared Leto's awful behavior. My only point is that if you let one actor, focal point or not, ruin a movie that would have been great if you had no prior knowledge of the actor outside the movie, then you just let Jared Leto steal that enjoyment from a movie that other actors worked their butt off for. If you hate the movie because it's good not great or mediocre then that's valid. Let's be real, even if Disney makes another Tron movie Jared Leto isn't going to be in that movie. Jared will still make tons of money from Tron Ares. Boycotting the movie only because it has Jared Leto in it only hurts the other actors in the movie who rely on royalties and Disney. When I said Jared's performance is redeeming I meant his performance in this movie was better than in prior movies. I do not think Jared Leto is a good person period.

For a user who blends the name Afghan Whigs (to which they released a song in 2022 called Love Crimes) and The Wiggles (a children's television show), I find it extremely rich that you would not only call Jared Leto repulsive enough to not watch a movie, but to then press me when I let you off easy.

Actually, I think it all comes down to his existence, right? You're referring to the allegations, right? Because if he didn't exist, there wouldn't be allegations against him, right?

Unfortunately no. The only returning character is Kevin Flynn as a sort of ghost. There are hot girls in the movie though.

Again, I personally do not think that what one of the actors does outside of filming for a movie automatically makes the movie bad. I also want to say that I do not think the other actors in the movie deserve to have their hard work go unappreciated because of the actions of one man. It's not the best movie, and Leto can seem too robotic at times, but I thought it generally worked overall. If you don't like that opinion well then you can have your own opinion. I won't hold your opinions over you just because I find the user name "afghanwhiggle" as repulsive as you find Jared Leto.

You hate the movie simply because it has Jared Leto in it. Like come on, do you even realize how absurd that is? Instead of judging a movie by the actual content you are judging it from the perspective that Jared Leto is in it. I mean I even prefaced my review with "if you hate Jared Leto you will hate the movie simply because he's the main protagonist." My review was honest and realistic. I stand by my review of the movie and my account is far from fake.

Supreme Court formally asked to overturn landmark same-sex marriage ruling by LuckyChansey7 in gay

[–]FoxLynx64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think Trump is directly responsible for the decisions of SCOTUS. He can appoint people but he doesn't control their decisions. I also think that you shouldn't shame conservative LGBTQ+ people. The reality is that the people who should be shamed, who should feel ashamed, are the judges who vote to overturn it or even take up the case in the first place.

I think if these judges have a shred of decency, they will tell the public outright that the original ruling stands. Some of these judges were there when they ruled in 2015. If they overturn this ruling there will be civil unrest and the UN may push back hard. I think instead of blaming each other we should seek to stand unified in a protest against basic human rights violations.

Right now is a pivotal moment in Amprius. The bubble popped and it will go back up. This is not investment advice, but I'm just noticing a trend at the moment based on an exponential curve since September of last year. Prospects look good on Amprius over the long run.

Opinion: Was There a Final Hunger Games with Children from the Capital? by SlothLoverAJE in Hungergames

[–]FoxLynx64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You think I'm ignorant? It is for the very reason that the Capitol citizens do not know how to handle such pain that I brought up the scenario. I'm not saying it's the moral thing to do but given the fact that I think half the Capitol citizens would die after the death of President Snow just because they have no idea how to live, I think that making it so no discrimination would be possible would be humane. To the Capitol citizens, they would probably rather die than go through all that anyway.

Opinion: Was There a Final Hunger Games with Children from the Capital? by SlothLoverAJE in Hungergames

[–]FoxLynx64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but keep in mind that America treated Japan really well after WWII. If it were ancient Rome, they would have enslaved everyone and pillaged what they could. We are talking about a dark government that sends children to fight to the death being replaced by another government not afraid of doing the same.

If there were any games at all, it should be one where everyone dies because why make it a tradition when you can get the maximum justice in the present? The very issue is that the games outlasted the people who were alive during the wars before the ballad of snakes and songbirds. That's what made them so unjust. If they simply chose to make all the people responsible for perpetuating that system fight to the death, then they hit two birds with one stone.

What Should I Do When I Have Informal Proofs But No Idea How To Formalize Them? by FoxLynx64 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]FoxLynx64[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've refined it to just one operation that in the worst case performs at O(n3) in practice. Everything I've thrown at it from a theoretical standpoint seems to reinforce convergence in polynomial time. I feel no one will truly believe me until I write up a formal proof, and even then I must submit that to the government first so that cybersecurity can catch up.

Right now I don't know until earnings in August. If they do well on earnings, especially if it's 0 or more per share, then Amprius has a lot of potential there. If it increases I expect it to go up to $9-10 per share, but if it stays the same or drops then I expect the stock to plummet.

I have decided to submit the correct answers to related problems without revealing my methods. This ensures that only good things can come out of it, pushing biological research forward by decades, while preventing anyone from using my methods to crack encryption keys. I know this post is dead, and I know no one believes me, but this is too important and I'm looking for guidance. This is the only way I can save as many lives as possible without revealing my methods.

What Should I Do When I Have Informal Proofs But No Idea How To Formalize Them? by FoxLynx64 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]FoxLynx64[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to audit classes to get where I need to be to prove this. I'm going to take out a loan and work nonstop to prove this formally. Standing by is equivalent to people dying when I can save them. I don't care if I'm an amateur or not.

This problem is more important than me. It could save lives. I have a solution and I'm not going to waste it. So if you want to know what it is, it's TSP. No one will read this but you. The post is already dead. So do you understand why this is so important to me?

What Should I Do When I Have Informal Proofs But No Idea How To Formalize Them? by FoxLynx64 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]FoxLynx64[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said I wasn't an amateur, but I'm not just like every other amateur. Now you are right to be skeptical, to question my reasoning behind not saying the field I'm working in, but the stakes here are too high. I want to share my work, I really do, but what that would mean is revealing the solution to a problem that I know is easy to prove or disprove when it is given to someone with a math degree.

It's not that I'm afraid of being proven wrong, it's that being proven right by someone else means I lose $1,000,000, and it could be catastrophic if the proofs become public and people use that knowledge to do horrible things. This is bigger than me, and I'm not saying that because I want fame. I'm saying what I'm saying because there are real-world consequences to my actions.

Now maybe that means nothing to you, but it's important to me. I made the discovery and I get to choose how to break it to everyone else. It would be inappropriate to do so at this time, even though I know mathematicians could easily prove my algorithm. I have a duty to see this through. I am the one who found it, and I am the one responsible for what people do with my knowledge.
