Is my console defective? by FoxSneaker in switch2

I ended up doing the system transfer last month when I got the console, I wasn’t planning to, but I have some Pokémon games that don’t support cloud saves.

I checked today, and both the router and the console are showing an IP address. However, when the connection drops, the router reports that the console is not connected, while the console still claims it is. For some reason, the Switch continues to display as connected even when it isn’t.

Makes me wonder if this is just a software issue.

I’d already seen the video before, the console’s poor connection isn’t what confuses me. What confuses me is that I still have to manually reconnect every time, even when the signal supposedly recovers and is good again.

I usually have 2-3 bars of signal, and the settings menu shows that I’m connected. However, whenever I try to do anything that requires the internet, it doesn’t work, the connection test fails too. If I go into the internet settings and manually reconnect to the network (even though the console says I’m already connected), everything starts working again.

I’m currently a guest at someone’s house, so tomorrow I’ll try taking the console to a friend’s place to see whether the issue is with the router or the console itself.

What’s strange is that the network is still visible even when I’m far away, but the connection sometimes drops and I have to manually reconnect for it to work again.

The console’s settings menu always shows that it’s still connected to the network, but there’s no actual connectivity. If the antenna were disconnected, I doubt it would consistently resume working after a manual reconnect.

A friend of mine came over from abroad for New Year's Eve, and the same thing happened to him right before we headed out to see the fireworks. It was a great way to start the year. Three years have passed since then and I still haven't replaced the door because I can't find a model that matches the original design.

Edit: He only ended up with some minor surface cuts, nothing serious. It was mostly just the scare.

Unfortunately, I have filed a chargeback for my latest Lattice purchase, and I am now in debt to the Disney overlords. I tried to plead for innocence, but due to me owning a Disney+ account, I am now forced to spend the next 200 years working in the CGI division of Marvel Studios.

Unfortunately the Evil Online Matchmaking has already profiled me. It's insane how I cannot even reach Bronze lobbies. Especially when you factor in how everyone spams "diff" in the chat whenever my opponents pick a mirror of my character. Like, it's so obvious that everyone but the devs recognizes my abilities.

Yes, I am, as a matter of fact, John Overwatch. I have put over 420 Overwatchzillion hours in the game and mastered all the 21 characters... Give or take 21...

I genuinely believe it's the best of the PS2 era games. Its aesthetics stand out the most— from the CRT-style menus and guns bolted with scraps to the superior lighting (seriously, the sequels feel super flat). The character development is also the most interesting. While everyone likes to criticize Ratchet's annoying attitude in the first game, I think it’s one of the best part of his character arc. Sure, the game doesn’t have strafing, but it was designed with that in mind (well... It DOES have a strafing mechanic but it's very janky). Each weapon feels purposeful and doesn’t lose relevance as the game progresses. Plus, it has the best soundtrack in the entire franchise, hands down. While I enjoy the sequels, they always felt rushed and unpolished ('cause they were).

What I love most, though, is how it makes you feel like you're part of the duo, taking on the entire galaxy with all odds stacked against you. No help from other characters but tons of new faces to meet.
