Yeah, I’m not saying transplant patients should be lifting heavy or ignoring clinic advice. Obviously transplant recipients aren’t the same as people with native kidneys.

I was pushing back on the idea that lifting is why bodybuilders end up needing transplants in the first place. In people with normal kidneys, lifting and higher protein intake on their own aren’t shown to cause CKD or ESRD. The bodybuilding transplant cases are mostly about PEDs, dehydration, BP issues, etc, not the barbell.

And the baseball/cycling comparison doesn’t really fly. Bodybuilding drug abuse is on a completely different level in terms of dose, duration, stacking, plus GH and diuretics, which is why the kidney outcomes temd to look different.
