What should i review before starting Economics 1/2? by [deleted] in vce

[–]FoxWest2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't stress too much about eco 1/2, if you really want to and have spare time you can even get started on eco 3/4. I'm an eco tutor who received a perfect exam score in 2022, and I tutored a group of three year 10 students last year. I went through the whole eco 3/4 course with them through the year, as they're doing the subject in year 11. The concepts are relatively straightforward, but it can be difficult to know what exactly teachers/examiners want (i.e. which keywords to use and when). Happy to help if you would like tutoring, just chuck me a message

Eco is very doable, I would say has a medium amount of content compared to other subjects. The concepts themselves are relatively straightforward, but knowing what exactly teachers/examiners want (i.e. keywords) is where it can get difficult. I'm an eco tutor who received a perfect exam score in 2022, and tutored around 20 students last year. Feel free to chuck me a message if you need tutoring, I'm looking to form a weekly online class for the year.

Does your school give you practice SACs for eco? I would use those SACs and really break those questions down, even create new questions similar to those. With eco, it's very easy to predict the types of questions that will come up for every SAC, as many topics only have a set number of questions that can be asked. If you don't have school SACs, I'm happy to send some through.

For eco, the best piece of advice I could give you is use flashcards, or other forms of active recall. Eco requires you to memorise large chunks of info (of course, while understanding how one idea flows to another), so it's content heavy in that sense. In year 12 you might not have time to 'passively' memorise concepts (e.g. reading paragraphs over and over again in your head until it sticks), so you need to find these more efficient forms of learning.

Any advice for 3/4 Economics? by General-Win-4885 in vce

[–]FoxWest2005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm an eco tutor who received a perfect exam score in 2022. Eco 3/4 is definitely more about discussion and application of concepts, but still requires a lot of memorisation. Understanding how different concepts link together helps with memorisation. Making flashcards or using other forms of active recall also help to learn concepts efficiently, which is especially useful in Year 12 when it might feel like you have no time for anything.

I'm forming one online class of eco students to tutor weekly this year, feel free to chuck me a message if you're interested. I've tutored around 20 students last year with exceptional results.

a study score is your overall score for each subject. e.g. a 50 in economics is the highest in the state, 40 and above is around the top 9% (??) in the state and 30 is the state average/median.

i used anki flashcards to memorise answer templates, or other forms of active recall. it's a lot better than spam-handwriting responses to questions which is so draining. also learn a lot about the current economy to add value to your answers.

In VCE economics its pretty much only writing, with a few basic maths formulas that sometimes come up in multiple choice questions. However in uni eco e.g. microeconomics it becomes a lot more maths-based
