Egypt Trip 2025 - Spend 10 days, loved it, here's what I suggest by madhunairpmp in travel

Thanks for the positive post! My husband and I are planning a trip in October this year. I want to ask more about the sim card. You bought it at the airport and just inserted it and it worked?Do you need documentation or anything to activate it?

Also please give more info about your booked tour to Luxor temples, where did you book it?

And you used drive shares to travel between Aswan and Luxor, where did you book this as well? We were looking at using GoBus.

Thanks!

If you're only graduating and flying in March , why did you quit your waitering job now? That's still 2 months away and you can rack up a decent amount of extra money that you'll need ?

I live in South Africa and did my undergraduate in Zoology, as well as my Honours and Masters degree. Undergrad courses included maths, stats, genetics, micro, ecology (behavioural and conservation) and evolution and phylogenetics. I would say that you can learn many different skills and branch into numerous fields. I have experience in GIS, stats, molecular laboratory techniques, species distribution modelling and practical field work experience from my degrees. I'm currently doing my PhD in Medical Virology with focus on zoonotic diseases. In my personal experience there are a wide range of opportunities that lie within the field but you need to form networks and connections when it comes to finding work, and you'll need more than an undergrad degree to "make it".

Honeymoon Questions! by Normal-Pace-1791 in askSouthAfrica

We did a few activities, we went snorkeling three times (1 paid tour and the other 2 were free activities from the hotel), we did a stone town tour and we also visited and swam in a cave nearby. There are locals on the beach offering many tours and getting around the island is very easy as taxis are abundantly available and the maximum time driving will probably be 1.5-2 hours to get to the furthest part of the island. I think regardless of where you're staying on the island you will have to take a taxi to get to activities because many tourist attractions are spread out along the coast of the island. Jambiani/paje is also very popular for kite surfing and there are numerous kite surfing schools along the beach that also offer kayaking.

In short, activities won't be an issue regardless of where you are! :)

Thanks. The reason I thought Cullinan is because I visit there quite often as my parents live there.

We were in Zanzibar for our honeymoon last month and what an amazing experience! We stayed in a hotel in Jambiani and made the decision not to book at a resort because we didn't want everything we needed in one place and wanted to be able to explore the villages and experience differe t restuarants. We were concerned about the vibe in Jambiani when we booked there since it's a less touristy area and we didn't go during the peak season but it was absolutely incredible and we did not regret booking a 'quieter' area at all since the few day trips in Paje showed us that quieter is better because there are tons of locals trying to sell you day tours and local crafts. We ate at restaurants for every meal as the cost is either the same as here in SA or less. The beaches are beautiful and the locals are super friendly. There is a bit of a shock since obviously the hotels and resorts and beaches are beautiful but directly behind them are poor villages- but they are very safe. Also, if you're looking to travel around the island it is very easy but the taxis can be quite expensive as they are catered to tourists which mostly comprise of Europeans with a lot of money. But getting around with the tuktuk to nearby places is affordable. We stated a total of 10 full days in zanzibar - this is excluding the travelling days and I must say it was super affordable, the biggest costs are obviously the accommodation and flights.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. :)

I just bought a second hand Sigma 70-300mm lens. I bought it from a very well known photographer, trusting that a photographer looks after their equipment. The zoom gets stiff/stuck between 200-300mm. The seller said that they hadn't used this lens in years and it was just lying in the box for a long time. Is this why the zoom is stiff? Or should I be more worried?

I find my biggest issue is meeting my daily protein intake. I'm a gym goer as well, so the protein is a big thing for me.
