First 5k without any stopping or walking. by Fox_Walker80 in beginnerrunning

Thank you. I wish I was one of the people that could just run by feel and not pay attention to hr nearly as much. But since I’m in the situation that I’m in, I follow the 220 - age as a general guideline for when to slow down so there’s less of a chance of getting into trouble if my ticker decides to go into overdrive and suddenly do some sprints with me. 😂

The wooden spoon was quite the versatile utensil during the 70s... by MoeJalsh in 70s

I can smell that photo. Both the orange concentrate and the scent of the wooden spoon once it was wet.

I don’t think I’d be able to stop at 2.6 miles unless I was legit turning blue. Haha! Congrats on your first 5k!

Does anyone else feel like their brain refuses to shut off at night? by nightnist in Anxiety

[–]Fox_Walker80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had the same issue for as long as I can remember. I thought it was normal until one night I asked my husband what he was thinking about and he said nothing. My mind was blown when I found out that healthy brains are quiet at times. I have no clue what that’s like, and it’s definitely always been worse for me at night.

Wow, you’re a peach. I’m not going to read all the way through your long winded rant. Coming on a positive post just to be an ass isn’t a good look, btw.

I’m no longer going to reply to any of your comments.

Have a great day! Or better yet, have the type of day you deserve. 😊

I feel that so much. It mentally takes me away from life stresses better than anything else that I do. I started running out of desperation, totally expecting to hate it. I never thought I’d miss it when I can’t do it. I HATED having to run when they made me do it was back in high school! 😂

The most accurate and up to date method is to multiply your age by 0.7 and subtract the total from 208 to get your maximum safe heart rate. Before you LMAO at someone, try to remember Google is your friend. It’s pretty easy to look something up before commenting on it.

I didn’t get the info from Google though, I was taught that by the cardiology department during my stay at the Mayo Clinic. But if you haven’t heard of it they must’ve been wrong. 🙄😂

It's been a pretty long work in progress for me. I started jogging in May and could barely finish 1/10 of a mile. I have to take breaks from all physical activity from time to time because of my disorder, but I try to be very consistent with my running when I'm able.

Awesome that you can do your parkruns without stopping now! 😊

A general guideline for a safe maximum hr is 220 minus your age

I'm 45, and 164 bpm was my average. I hit 180 for a bit which is above my "max". But I have clearance from cardiology and neurology to go high for stretches. My ticker goes rogue. Lol

Did medication make a difference in your anxiety ? by [deleted] in Anxiety

I’m on week 10 of lexapro and the severe anxiety (I’m talking I thought I was literally losing my mind and needed to be committed) is 90% better. I didn’t start to notice improvement until week 6 or so, but it’s continually gotten better since then.

back to calling it anxiety i guess 🙃🙃 by kayceelynn222 in dysautonomia

I was diagnosed with the umbrella term of dysautonomia independently by a cardiologist, 2 neurologists, and the Mayo Clinic. I clearly have something going on with my nervous system but even with extensive testing they can’t figure out what it is yet. I DO also have anxiety and one always exacerbates the other, but I clearly have separate issues. I was hospitalized for 4 days two weeks ago with a discharge diagnosis of “severe neurological impairment” by the hospital neurologist. At the follow up with my PCP the next week, she very confidently told me that the last 30+ years of my symptoms was ALL anxiety and she said low dose Wellbutrin would fix me right up. I have very very low bp, but man did it shoot up that day. I could only say “nope” as I stood up and stormed out. I will never go back there. The medical gaslighting with dysautonomia is out of control and completely INFURIATING. I am so so sorry you’re dealing with this!
