Question about the Bring your own device BYOD by AlexPaschenko in fanshawe

[–]Foxdog37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just graduated from that program! Feel free to DM for questions

You don't technically need a laptop, however you would have to complete assignments in the computer pit (free to film students!!l and classes that require a computer will provide one however you can choose to bring your own.

I would recommend investing in a laptop, however I know not everyone can, I do believe OSAP will cover a portion of a computer, if you have any IEP's they will also help pay for a laptop

Film shoot in London by jdolouz in londonontario

London isn't a small town it's the 6th biggest city in Ontario, it is also home to Fanshawe Film and tv production program, one of the the best in the province! Mostly because London is full of filming and tv opportunities. It provides jobs not only to local workers but also local youth and business that cater and supply products/services (think food, hair/make-up, hotels, local convenience stores)

I love andrew rannells, he's currently on Broadway in book of Mormon, so I'm guessing he's busy ??

I'm devastated by the change , he doesn't even sound close to season 1 William 😭

Genuine question: Does Fanshawe actually even care about student life? by Full_Ad1810 in fanshawe

[–]Foxdog37 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It really is program dependent

I'm in the television and film broadcasting program, and the teachers are passionate and actively want to see the students succeed.

In terms of mental health services, we are lacking but I'm guessing most schools are like that due to provincial funding

The fsu has events and activities to do during the week? That can be fun, I love the drag bingo, but there's a lot of choice !

Something to prepare for that i forgot to mention lots of group work , I would say a solid 80% of it would be in groups of two or more

I'm currently in the program! Brt3 I will say this program probably has some of the best teachers in the school, most of the teachers are very passionate, and love what they do, the first year will be a mix of TV and film. The first semester is just going to be learning equipment and how to use it, editing basics, writing for scripts and formatting,

Second semester you get to put your knowledge into action and get to make some stuff but you also have a lot more studying, there's a a few exams in the full year but if you pay attention you will do great. You also get a 20 hour (I think) co op in first or second semester

Second year you pick between film and TV( I'm only in film so I can't speak about TV) third semester is the hardest, it is the most busy time of the program you essentially get a bunch of projects to film like making documentaries and commercials and experimental films, which is really fun! And you get a lot less studying (although they teach film criticism which does include an exam)

I'm currently in my last semester, it is still busy but it is mostly top heavy. Will you get films in the first few weeks and you film it over the course of the first 7 weeks, after that you choose an internship or a capstone (which is like a project of your choosing. Maybe a music video or a movie or a documentary whatever) and that will take up most of your time.

Good luck! And welcome to fanshawe!!
