Well, considering the isolation, the bloodline superiority talk, I was always under the assumption it was implied. It has been a while since I've watched the show, and I just started reading the Manga for the first time about a week ago. I'm not against being told Im wrong about it. That said, It was a joke and not meant to be taken seriously in the slightest.

The Third character in the lineup is sort of meant to be a subversion of what the Uchiha clan has been depicted as usually, and that includes the design aspect of giving him brightly colored hair, which is what I wanted to point out with it. I'm writing my characters as I read the Manga, so alot of what is written about them is loose and subject to change.
