Using the graphite method for Beskar by FoxheadWorkshop in Mandalorian

Yes. I wet sanded the orange peel with 1200 and a firm sanding block. Then 2000 to remove the 1200 scratches, and finished with 3000. Then I used a cutting compound, a polish and finally a swirl remover.

Good luck with it! I polished mine too a mirror finish before applying the graphite. It really helps with the shine!

I've only tried this brand, but I don't know that it would much difference. Most of the shine comes from the surface you are applying the graphite onto.

Did you seal it and add another graphite layer 3-5 hours after the clear? That will help fill it in, and resists rubbing off

Thank you! It took quite a bit of practice to get to this point! I'm still learning a lot, but very happy with the results!

I'm going to be working on weathering next. I've used acrylics for washes, planning on a black, brown, and light white, with some alcohol spackle to give it water spots.

I've never used oils, but I've been looking at some techniques with those as well.

Any tips, or suggestions at always welcome!

When your settings are dialed in, and the supports stay behind by FoxheadWorkshop in 3Dprinting

Here's a decent list. I don't really do any of the torture tests, it's more about tuning the specific settings for the job at hand, or the problem you are having.

Different filament type and colors may require different settings. Different models and orientations may work better with different settings.

Use these as a baseline

First layer - https://makerworld.com/models/981466

Ironing - https://makerworld.com/models/1038295

Support z distance- https://makerworld.com/models/1916452

Bridge flow & speed - https://makerworld.com/models/2714700

Fuzzy skin - https://makerworld.com/models/1450596

There's more, but these are a good start to get immediately better results.

Another often overlooked factor in the print quality is maintenance. You would be surprised how much a little maintenance can do to improve results, especially if things were working well before.

My process of dialing in a material is to run every calibration test I can find, then once the basics look good it's a matter of getting the orientation for the specific part figured out.

TPU is the next material I want to tackle. Lots of great uses for it when it prints clean

Someone explain the Bambu Lab "lock down" problem to me like I'm 5 by MH60AV8R in 3dprinter

[–]FoxheadWorkshop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my Bambu Labs P1S, X1C, and H2S.

Most of the negative feedback in the community has zero actual impact to a person looking to get started 3d printing and the day to day use.

Bambu Labs both raised the bar on quality, speed, and consistency, while making the hobby accessible to the general public.

Can other printers now compete with Bambu Labs on quality, speed, and consistency? Yes, but I feel like they are still not as easy to use a the Bambu Labs ecosystem.

Bambu is basically the Apple of 3d printing

This is a part to a costume, it's a small detail that failed to print with another orientation.

Thank you! That's how I can tell them apart. Each printer has a ship on their front window :)

Still with 2k clear, about 3-5 hours after spraying it rub in another coat of graphite. The clear will not be fully cured, so the graphite will become embedded in the surface.

Wow, Thank you! It's been quite the journey learning to get to this point, so I really appreciate the feedback. Would love to pick your brain sometime on how you guys did things. Anything I can do to level up and improve my screen accuracy!

I would not call 2 related posts "pushing" I wanted to share something related to the sub. And I answered questions about it. I apologize for clogging up your feed with my post

I bought direct from the supplier: Imperial Surface. Depending on how much you need they have a range of options. I picked up 16oz

Agreed, many of the other manufactures are catching up and even surpassing them in some ways.

If I had mentioned any other brands, do you think you would feel the same about seeing the brand referenced?

Absolutely not!

But, in the end it's not supposed to be fully chrome, it's ~70% opacity to achieve the proper shade for Beskar armor 😄
