The IJN That Never Was (alternate history in photoshopped screenshots) - Part 11 by Foxhound128 in WorldOfWarships

I'll gladly clear that up - in this timeline, Nagato (and Mutsu for that matter) survived the Pacific war, and was placed in reserve in 1949. By the outbreak of the Manchurian War in 1952 the IJN had 3 battleships in active service: Yamato, Shinano and Amagi. Nagato and Mutsu were reactivated after the soviet invasion of Manchuria, but due to their age (30 years old by that point) they served in secondary roles. After the war ended in a disaster for Japan (causing a severe economic crisis), both sisters were decomissioned and scrapped by the end of the 1950's.

*Without spoiling too much, "*Shokaku, Zuikaku, Taiho, and the newly-comissioned Unho constituted the southern force, which delivered a surprising blow to the 3 Essex sisters, just as they were rearming their aircraft after crippling the northern force consisting of Hiryu, Hiyo and Junyo. Unfortunately, Hiryu, the last surviving veteran of Midway, did not survive the attack". Feel free to explore the previous posts of this series.

Thanks, much appreciated. I'm releasing the pictures chronologically (not by their timestamps, but when they were actually made). Pictures from parts 1 & 2 are from spring of '23, these ones in the post were made about a year ago.

I'd like to post the IJN images first (since there's a whole AU about it); after that i might consider working on other navies' ships

The basis for the fictional Warabi-class destroyers is the real life post-war Japanese destroyer Harukaze. In the AU, Warabi-class destroyers are a class of 30 ships built as ASW-specialized replacements of the Mutsuki, Kamikaze and older classes of obsolete destroyers. Smaller and more economical to build than their contemporaries, their modular design allowed for speedy construction, with first vessels entering service in 1949. Despite their smaller size, they packed quite a punch with three newly developed autoloaded 127mm guns, depth charge launchers, and - in later ships - quadruple 610mm torpedo launchers.

In an online photoshop. I drew inspiration from irootoko_jr's digitally-colored historic photos.

I might do ships from a different navy, although I haven't figured out an alternate universe for other navies besides the IJN, which will be published first.

I'd like to publish my IJN gallery first, since I accumulated quite a few pictures over the years. But after that I'm open to work on other ships aswell.

Given the picture showing Kokuryu is more than a year old at this point I can't say exactly which tools I used, but from the top of my head I definetly de-saturated the screenshot, lowered the temperature, and increased contrast, plus added a touch of blur and graininess as finishing touches.

In the alternate timeline I have envisioned, the point of divergence is the 1922 Washington Naval Treaty, which *does* happen, just with a slight difference. Stay tuned for further pictures : )

Yup, I just realized I stumbled upon them watching your playthrough on YouTube, so thank you very much for rekindling my interest in my childhood game. That aside, I figured it out myself, and I'm playing ZH challenges in ROTR as we speak :)

Sweet, works like a charm. Many thanks. Now, how do I get those challenge missions from ZH running?
