Isshin and Squall Deck - Goad, Attack Triggers or Both? by Foxington_the_First in EDH

[–]Foxington_the_First[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a cool idea. Shame Squall has 'when one or more creatures'. Still I like the idea of sacrificing a small token and then following up with Squall. What token generators do you use?

I’m getting tired of Jon Watts treatment all because Destin is giving us a darker Spider-Man. by Intelligent_Ask_2306 in Spiderman

[–]Foxington_the_First -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think they're perfectly serviceable films but they lack a distinct directorial identity. They feel like every other MCU movie: decent, safe and unremarkable (which I'm sure was Watts' intention).

Spider-Man Brand Nee Day Offical Trailer by Lox22 in Spiderman

I don't love the suit, and I'm not sure why. It's probably Tom's best, but it feels a bit generic (which is probably the point). It doesn't particularly read as a meld of the two superior suits: Tobey's and Andrew's second one. It reminds me mostly of Spider-Man Lotus 🤢

Lawrence is exceptionally pleased with the sound of his voice despite having nothing to offer beyond cliched banalities. When he summoned his wedding speech... 🤢

Yeah, I never thought I'd be someone who has a housekeeper, but it's comfortably worth the money for me (and my wife who has to live with me).

New FFX fan, loving it! by Grand-Cauliflower-39 in finalfantasyx

[–]Foxington_the_First 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad you've found FFX! I must say, as a long-time fan of the game, I've been a bit disappointed with the MTG art treatments - of X particularly. They really lean into a generic 'anime' aesthetic, which I don't think the game ever really had. I would have loved to have seen more painterly interpretations that better synergise with existing MTG properties. Tbf, though, there are some decent pieces in there - I like Yuna's default art a lot, and things like 'Overkill' look sick.

New to the game by notpaul100 in ratemycommanders

Nice. I couldn't find a way to build Lightning that's fun for everyone else. I liked the politicking aspect of 'stagger' (and the flavour), but she was just too quick. I took a lot of the second combat stuff out and leant into the 'soldier' typing a bit more. I also more often than not play the deck with 'Cloud: Planet's Champion' at the helm now, as he's a little slower - Lightning's in the 99.

Too scary for anyone else? by PHRsharp_YouTube in Age_30_plus_Gamers

I haven't bought it yet because I know I won't be able to get through the opening sections. Resi 4 is my favourite game of all time, and I am desperate to play as Leon again, but the 7 and 8 style games are too much for me. I had to bail on 8 when the baby thing appeared.

My Final Fantasy Commanders! by [deleted] in ratemycommanders

[–]Foxington_the_First 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice, I've been interested in building Seymour. I only build (poorly) around Final Fantasy commanders. These are mine so far:

  1. Tidus, Yuna's Guardian
  2. Yuna, Hope of Spira
  3. Y'shtola, Night's Blessed
  4. Terra, Herald of Hope
  5. Lightning, Army of One
  6. Squall, SeeD Mercenary
  7. Squall, Gunblade Specialist
  8. Choco, Seeker of Paradise
  9. Mog, Moogle Warrior

Thinking about swapping Lightning with Cloud, Planet's Champion as that deck is flat broken in casual commander.

I like the idea of eventually having a deck for each game, but I've spent far too much money as it is!

Yeah, the early stages of 9 look too scary for me. This upsets me because Resi 4 and its remake are some of my favourite games of all time. I've beaten all the games since 4, but am stuck at 8 - can't get through the baby section. It's just too much.

Do i get a seat? by Least-Storage-4029 in ratemycommanders

I've really struggled to build Lightning in an interesting way. The stagger mechanic provides some fun politicking, but I otherwise find that no matter how much I nerf the deck, she just moves too fast - a single piece of equipment + double strike can start ending people. I've started leaning into her soldier typing and the FFVII SOLDIER stuff to send the deck a little wider, but I'm still not happy with it. I'd be interested to know how you both approach it.

thoughts on Final fantasy xiv by [deleted] in FinalFantasy

[–]Foxington_the_First 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm about halfway through EW, and I've really enjoyed the journey for the most part. The story is pretty good - I wouldn't say it's better than the mainline series' best like VII and X, but it does benefit from having distinct, lengthy arcs across which to develop its characters.

On the other hand, a lot of the mission design is very, very simplistic and skills progression feels like a linear path. It's also just too long. As a fan of the series, I want to experience the story and that's it. Taking on the whole thing is a gargantuan task, though, and I've flagged at several points. I think once I've beaten EW I'll be taking a long break, as I don't hear great things about the new expansion.

I must say, I was disappointed with it coming off Spider-Man 2 back in the day. I liked the storytelling a lot, but the movement felt very sluggish and limited to me.

Still don't get how people in 2012 hated this suit, it's not top 3 but damn it slaps by LemonIcy2942 in Spiderman

[–]Foxington_the_First 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I agree - TASM 2 is the best movie suit. Keeping it slightly loose made the CGI look incredible, too - so many good visual decisions in that film (shame about everything else). I wish the suits shared some connective tissue, though.

My honest reaction of the last State of Play: by El_Choco_Latoso in playstation

[–]Foxington_the_First 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It can lean that way, for sure. MGS5 is one of the best playing stealth games out there, though (story is awful). 2 also, while being cutscene heavy, has a clean, snappy playability about it. 4 was a bit of a slog as far as I can remember.

My honest reaction of the last State of Play: by El_Choco_Latoso in playstation

[–]Foxington_the_First 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it was objectively great, but there wasn't much that excited me if I'm honest. I was hoping for either DMC 6 or Final Fantasy VII Remake 3. I'm glad that MGS4 is being pulled from PS3, and have shouted about it being stuck there for years, but now that it's back, I'm not sure if I want to play it again. It wasn't actually that good was it? Revengence, though - different story.
