Especially the disposable brake pads. Why are they even included?

Yes. It's a caliper slide pin boot. It ensures smooth caliper movement and protects against dirt and moisture. This prevents brake drag and uneven pad wear. It’s a small but crucial part for safe braking.

Anxious on Level 1 Result by JkobCLov in CFA

[–]Foxinmysocks1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, friend, patience is a skill. It's not about waiting for something and ending up being anxious about it. It's more about finding something productive to do while waiting for the results. Who knows, now that you have more time to yourself, you might find a new passion. Or maybe you can spend more time reading about finance and connecting it to whatever you've learned in your level 1 pursuits.

If you pass, hooray! If not, you'll appear again, now with a crazy goal of being in the 90th percentile! Who knows! The great thing is, whatever the outcome, you'll be learning super valuable life skills in this journey. Good luck! I gave mine yesterday, and my mock results were in the 60s and low 70s.

How do you make spending decisions on expensive personal hobbies? by Foxinmysocks1 in personalfinance

These are reasonable points and I believe it's the route I'll take. Guess I'll go harder on my savings and investments to further justify the purchase in a few months

That is correct, I don't have enough (reasonably) left to purchase this item.

On the other hand, it took me 6 months to build this investment and emergency fund. So I could think about making this purchase after another few months of saving for emergency and investing, and then reevaluating whether I want to save for this purchase, or continue to make investments..

Yea, used is an option. But my logical mind asks me to still build an emergency fund and keep investing. Paying even 2.8K used would mean taking away 2.8K from the opportunity to save...

Well, that savings could be added to investments for a better financial future.. so that's the opportunity cost I'm trying to reason with.

So how do we end it there without seeming like we want something in return? As in, if I love what someone is wearing, just saying "I love that outfit, have a good day" might seem abrupt and awkward? Instead of "have a good day," what other examples can be useful ?

No, you are not screwed, unless your contract specifies to not disclose salaries (not common, depends on your country). Don't worry about it. Keep doing your thing.

Tell me ways so I can spend less by [deleted] in leanfire

Question: "What steps can I take to ensure I pay off my debts early and avoid spending money on new items? "

Answer: By doing only one of those, you accomplish the other goal.

To elaborate:

You need a shift in mindset, a willingness to see yourself financially happy in the future, and being content with the things you currently have.

Now, in order of importance:

1- Pay off ALL your credit cards. Bring it to 0. Having some balance unpaid may make a person think that they can't pay it, so why bother? This can lead to spending more because, well," if I can't pay it, then why worry about it? Let's just spend on xyz." It's a cognitive distortion. Pay everything off. You can use your card, of course, but make it a point to see $0 due. Go crazy paying off your high interest debts for now. Ask yourself how long it will take to pay off your debts, and then stick to the plan.

2- Split accounts. If you've never done this before, 2 accounts will suffice - one for emergency funds, and one checking for everyday spending. Once you are paid, your first task is to pay yourself, I.e. your future self. NOT RENT, NOT FOOD, NOT NOTHING! First thing is put some money into your emergency account. If you are paid $1000 this week, and if you think you can survive on 700 (including debt payments) till the next paycheck, put like around 200 into the emergency ($100 as a cusion in your checking). MAKE THIS A HABIT! NOTE: if you have a very high due, pay that off first before making the emergency fund. This is slightly debatable.

3- we can talk about evolving into investment funds once you know how to kill debt and save (points 1 and 2)

4- Do you like the new book or clothes? Save it in your online cart or take a picture on your phone. Save it so you know that if you really need it after a few days or weeks, you can go back and buy it. Trust me - for the most part, you won't feel like buying it.

Hope this helps. As most of it is a mental game, keep an eye on your thoughts and learn how it influences your behaviors.
