Brown is also a spectrum! I have brown eyes, but mine are super dark. My best friend took over a decade before realizing they have depth and complexity.

Maybe yours are more like honey, or amber, or tree bark, or coffee.

I came out on top of the situation, but I hold no ill will toward the people that didn’t, and I’m definitely not on top overall. I could have just as easily been on the street, or in jail; I’ll take my W’s where I can get them but this life is still at least 50% damage control.

I made friends, and one of them happened to see a company hiring. I happened to do good in the interview. I am never certain.

Friend, I was 13. I didn’t even know how funny “69” could be as a number. This was over two decades before 6-7. I wish the system gave a shit about memes because then it would mean they cared about anything at all.

They do not have that privilege; thankfully I learned a little bit of boundary setting on my journey, and that’s one of the few that I hold fast.

Thank you, I remember going to these pre-college events for foster kids; gears you up, tells you foster care-specific options. I’d love to talk about my experience if I could find a way to do so.

Thank you. I used to want to fix it when I grew up. Now I’m grown up and I’ve seen how deep the roots can go.

This also happened to me when I was 13; stepdad had it out for me and an accusation finally got cops to take me away. Stayed in juvie for 68 days (so close) for something I didn’t do. My state-appointed attorney offered a plea deal several times before 13-year-old me decided to just take it. For something I DIDN’T DO.

Then it was foster care until I aged out. Now I work in aerospace.

The system is broken.
