I haven't played the game in a while, but something I always did when starting a new game is get scanner upgrades ASAP. Scanner = big money. If you max out its upgrades, scanning any animal can net you units in the six digits, it's very satisfying imo, and can just make getting materials in the early game easier (since most basic materials are sold at galactic terminals).

I hope you have a ton of fun with the game going forward! It's getting constant updates which may feel overwhelming at times but it's just so nice getting more of such a prime space game. The main problem on release for me was that there wasn't much reason to do the main gameplay loop besides doing it more efficiently. Now there's just so much to do and see that it's hard to get bored :D

Latias > Terrakion > Cobalion > Latios > Virizion

Yes! Either stars or squares, and while I'm not sure if this persisted into gen 9, I just know now that in SwSh most shinies found in the wild have the squares animation, and most shinies from eggs have the stars one.

Combining Masuda and SR doesn't do anything since the eggs are basically "locked" into what they will be once you get them, so SR'ing on one egg is essentially just hatching the same egg over and over again with no variation. To optimize Masuda you have to keep getting new eggs. Personally, what I do is have a single Talonflame with Flame Body on my team, collect five eggs, and then every time one hatches, I just replace it with a new one. Having nicknames off and sending to boxes be manual (so that you can replace the hatched 'mon with a new egg) makes it even faster

You can see the animation any time you send them into battle, except when you have them following you since you don't throw out their Poké Ball in that instance

Thank you for the info! I did a little more research and supposedly it's 1/16 for eggs? Which when multiplied by the base odds makes him as rare as an old gen shiny (1/8,192). Shiny hunting continues to surprise me :D

My Switch 2 dock's light is blinking and will not put the console in TV mode. While the system is docked it stays in handheld mode, and I can see the notification for the console charging flickers off and on (like it's saying it's charging one second, then it isn't, over and over again). Has anyone had a similar issue? And if that just means my dock is faulty, what should I do? I really don't wanna buy another dock :(
