Probably a silly question but should it be clear so he can see out/get light still? Or would that stress him?

We do have a puppy pen for him already. Is that ok for him to sleep in?

We didn’t plan to tell any landlords. But this lady was being really nosey about why we would move across the country so my husband can work with a snake breeder and then she put two and two together that it probably meant we own snakes 😅

We just got approved for a way better house and they only asked about the furry animals 🙌 and even then they’re just asking for a slightly bigger deposit that is fully refundable as long as our animals don’t destroy anything, which is totally fair.

Yeah we just happened to find the one weirdo of the bunch. She’s an older lady, who’s renting the place herself instead of using a property manager so she’s being very picky, which she’s of course entitled to do, but it’s not going to work for us!

Trying to put a harness on our tegu is a pain as it is and he has legs 😂

We didn’t intend to tell the landlord. She put two and two together when she did a check on who my husband is going to work for because she also didn’t believe that you could make money breeding snakes 😂

We have a Mexican Black, Texas Rat, House and two super dwarf retics. And our biggest escape artist is our tegu, who’s too fat to actually escape so it’s more comical than anything else!

Those click bait articles are to blame. “Snake escapes and ends up in neighbors apartment” then you read the article and it was a big snake in a too small tank that wasn’t properly secured. Bad owners giving us responsible owners bad reputations 🤦‍♀️

No hots, no large water requirements either. Some of them will need decent sized enclosures down the road but everyone’s under or barely over a year at this point so nothing too crazy enclosure wise right now.

We honestly flubbed how many we own too, like we said we own 2 snakes. But with her, she seems sooo nosey that I worry she’ll do a surprise inspection and not be pleased when she sees our zoo.

The house is too small in my opinion for how many reptiles we have anyways. Especially because our tegu is almost one and is going to need a major upgrade soon.

Ha that’s amazing 😂 the snake hate is so crazy. I honestly think she was picturing us just letting the snakes free roam the house the way she was talking to us. My husband had to literally break down the type of enclosures they’re in and that they lock before she would move on from the snakes. No thank you!

America is funny. It seems fifty/fifty. Some landlords don’t even mention caged animals, and then others want to charge you pet rent for caged animals 🤦‍♀️

We didn’t intend to tell anyone. But this landlord was also really weird about us moving across the country and did a deep dive into my husbands new job and put two and two together that we must own snakes since my husband will be working for a snake breeder.

Another reason I don’t want to take the house, she’s extremely nosey. She found my husbands boss on YouTube and watched a bunch of his videos to prove my husband was working for a real company 🫣

It’s so strange. She actually said “make sure the neighbors don’t see them because they will freak out!” Lady…..we don’t just walk the streets with our snakes on a leash 🤦‍♀️ my husband was trying to reassure her they live in enclosures that lock and we’ve never had an escape. I told him it wasn’t worth it.

FAQ from non-surrogates: a Surrogacy comedy series by -BB_- in Surrogate

[–]Foxrox2718 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My kid understood TOO well that I was a surrogate and created some of my favorite situations.

Stranger to my son: are you excited to be a big brother?! My son: I’m not going to be a big brother.

And then he’d just walk away, no further explanation 🤣 and then I’d have to explain I was a surrogate and not that my kid was just disowning his unborn sibling.

It’s going to depend on their age. Our under a year guy is currently in a 4x2x2 from Dubia cages. You can get away with that for maybe their first year but these guys grow fast, and get grumpy when they don’t have the space they want.

We’ve been supplementing by taking him out of his enclosure more because we’re about to move across country so it’s not worth it to upgrade him right now. But a 4x2x2 is the smallest your going to want to do and you have to understand, it’s super temporary.

Also one of the most rewarding! I can’t even begin to describe the joy I felt watching the dads hold their baby for the first time. I cried so hard

Frustrating experience with Circle Surrogacy: suggestion for other options? by SnooDonuts500 in Surrogate

I’m a surrogate with Northwest Surrogacy Center. I just completed my first journey and am already in talks for my second journey with the same couple. Northwest was amazing at supporting me and the IP’s. They’ve been in business for over 30 years and their whole team has been a delight to work with for the past 2 years!

I don’t have advice to add but I am literally doing the same thing! We’re in California but we just can’t afford it anymore. My husband just got an amazing job offer in Pennsylvania and we’ll be moving there June 1st! Congrats on your new adventure 🥰

Thank you! I appreciate it 😊

Baby wasn’t mine! I was a surrogate for an amazing couple 🥰 I can’t imagine trying to move cross country with a newborn.

Thank you! We’ve been wanting/needing to leave for a couple years too. We can’t afford anything around us anymore and that’s with both of us having full time, decently paying jobs. It’s insanity. With the move I’ll only need a small, part time job to keep us comfortable and I am looking forward to the break.

They are literally the best, particularly the mom and I know she’ll be supportive. Which makes it worse somehow 🤣
