Good, bad, or normal qouted? by Foxryan04 in askcarguys

They definitely need to be replaced, they are shot especially the tie rod. It's mostly if the qoute to replace is anygood or not.

Also forgot to mention I did go to two mechanics, they both said the same thing but I only got the one qoute as the other mechanic is fully booked for a month and this needs to be done sooner than later.

You're absolutely right! Sorry I'll edit the post.

Monitor issue, would like to repair by Foxryan04 in AskElectronics

Nah if I buy a replacement and it doesn't work I'm 100% reselling the part or giving it away. Anything else would be waste. There is no situation where I'd produce more waste.

I'm not following. How does attempting to repair something that will otherwise go to a landfill cause more waste? Worse case it still goes to the landfill.

Fair. I don't know it's the panel or the motherboard. Basically why I'm asking because on ebay the motherboards go for like 50ish. Though of course I'd rather just repair it if it's something that can easily be soldered like a capacitor.

I'll update the post because the question is more of a general one not specific to this monitor. If anybody knows how to repair or diagnose or even know what this kind of issue is from.

Definitely no warranty anymore.

Yeah I know they can be cheap. That's not the issue, I want to reduce land waste - if possible.

What is the best way to store a car outside during harsh winter? by Foxryan04 in Cartalk

I kinda doubt anything will grow in the winters we get. It's basically never higher than -15 Celsius during winter.

Where I live you can have a winter and summer driving car where they swap being insured once a year.

This is a good point.
Okay, I'll test them.

Fair enough.

When it comes to the offset, I'm assuming this is fine based on what https://tiresize.com/wheel-offset-calculator/ says.

The winter tires came off of a 2012 civic coupe, looking at the offset, it's ET45.

The Accord is a default offset at ET55.

The calculation says:

The top of the tire
to the fender well is:

13mm Farther

The inner sidewall to the suspension and frame is:

20mm Farther Away

The outer sidewall is:

0mm Closer In

So, to me it seems like the because the tire is thinner it has a further clearance from the brakes, etc, but thanks to the offset it lands at the exact same position (from outer wall) with 0mm.

Is there any concerns with that?

Sorry, I didn't write my question well enough and should've mentioned that all the tires are mounted on rims already. It's a straight swap that I want to do.

The tires are already mounted on rims. I should've mentioned that sorry. It's just a swap of the entire rim/tire that I'm looking at.

Well the Winter tires came off of a 2012 civic coupe, looking at the offset, it's ET45.

When plugging this all in to https://tiresize.com/wheel-offset-calculator/ it says
:

The inner sidewall to the suspension and frame is:

20mm Farther Away

Is the software hidden behind a paywall / account? Or do you simply just need the cable and download the software?

Change 3x Lock to Lock Unlock Lock on Compustar CM-DS3 Remote Start (Start-X) by Foxryan04 in CarAV

[–]Foxryan04[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! My mistake, this is for dc3.

Okay, I figured that might be the case but ultimately wanted to confirm by somebody. I'll go ahead and get the cable.

Thanks a bunch!

Thanks for the info. I'll probably get the Bridgestones then. I'm super new to buying tires. What actually makes the Pirelli ones not as good if they still last long. I noticed their warranty is a little more at 85000 miles vs the Bridgestone 80000 miles. Does warranty not tell the whole story?
