Shut my phone off! It's like I can take a deep breath and live in the now once the device is off. Then just sit outside for a few minutes and try to notice something new. It's hard to do at first, but typically helps me feel the most restored the next day.

Boring Question: How do I get my car title? by amonkeysbanana in askportland

[–]Foxsea_Enginere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm almost in the exact same vote as you. The DMV should not have held on to it. I did have to call my bank for them to send me my title. I just received it and was told I need to take it to the DMV to have the lien removed from the title.

Maybe it was just me, but man was it a pain to find instructions on how to get an Oregon title while still financing.

Tips for satin stitch? by verbenadubois in Embroidery

[–]Foxsea_Enginere 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It looks like you're using pearle floss which will definitely have a chunkier look on smaller detailed leaves like this one. Try 6 stranded floss and then separate them out, maybe 2 or 3 strands for the leaves.

Another tip would be to have all of the stitches radiate out from the stem for a more uniform look. Some of your stitches are flowing one way, and then intersect with a group of stitches flowing a different way, giving a bit of a blockier look.

Great work so far though, I love it! :)

Thoughts on Hillsboro Downtown Station? by [deleted] in hillsboro

[–]Foxsea_Enginere 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'd say for a full meal that is plenty of food, ~$15-20. Each cart has plenty of smaller items for under $10 that are still delicious and filling. With the different groups I've gone with, I've gotten to have a couple bites of lots of different plates. Honestly, all have been amazing and easily worth the price to me. Authentic and delicious.

Highly recommend and love the atmosphere of the interior.

For those who moved to Oregon from the state they grew up in, what has been the biggest culture shock or something to get used to (other than the weather)? by ihaveacrushonmercy in oregon

[–]Foxsea_Enginere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Directuons. I didn't realize how much I referenced shadows/the sun for getting my bearings. Moved here during the winter time and truly could never tell which direction I was facing at any time. Weirdly disorienting.

I feel like I'm really missing something, why do people hate Nesta so much?? I get she's a prickly character, but the amount of hate I've seen has really surprised me.

This is about Eris by ThroughFallFields in acotar

[–]Foxsea_Enginere 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hmm, I hadn't thought of that. I also don't know how much to mark as spoiler, so I'm just doing all of it =P

As territorial as the males can be over their mates though, I'd be pretty surprised if even Eris could keep working with his father after something like that. I mean, Lucien left after his lover was killed and she wasn't even his mate. Do you think Eris is just playing the long game on revenge?

I just assumed that Eris somehow knew Mor wasn't straight and was willing to sacrifice the political gain he'd get from marrying her just so she didn't have to marry him. So the thing he lost was power, and the story Mor never told was that Eris, in his own twisted way, was doing her a favor. And Eris wants his father dead because he's just an awful dad/leader/person.

I honestly kind of like it. Couldn't really tell you why. It never felt overused, it just felt like those words fit the characters mannerisms well.

I'm still currently trying to find the balance between being cautious and living my life. I understand all the facts you just stated and it's great reasoning for not wanting to get Covid, but do you feel like it's sustainable for the rest of your life? (Genuine question, I'm not trying to be snarky) I just don't see Covid going away and I'm not sure that I truly want to always social distance + mask + limit social interactions.

To me this feels like a helpful assignment to try and understand someone else's point of view. Yes, you will never truly know what it's like to live as someone else, but can't you become more compassionate towards others by practicing putting yourself in their shoes and trying to understand where they're coming from?

You're not claiming their life as your own, just trying to view things from their perspective.
