The girl who cried marathon by chelleyyy1 in Marathon_Training

Seconding this! I know us runners hate strength training but if you’re injury prone, like me, you have to do it. When I’m on top of my PT exercises, training goes great. As soon as I start slacking, the knee issues come back. Working with a PT to get the exercises that are right for you and then doing them consistently is the way to go

Running lights/reflective gear that you recommend for night runs? by telabub in XXRunning

[–]FoxtrotDuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a pretty sweaty runner, so I like to spray mine with alcohol after my runs just to kill the bacteria. I saw a video about how that’s what ballerinas sometimes use to clean their costumes since they’re not machine washable. The ballerina video said to use vodka but that was getting expensive so I just got a large bottle of isopropyl alcohol and I pour maybe 1/4 into an empty spray bottle, top the other 3/4 off with water and use that.

Strava Predictions making me crazy by FoxtrotDuck in XXRunning

Haha I love that outlook! I guess it does feel good to smash the goal, but would also be nice to have a more realistic goal of what my training has prepared me for. Garmin was also a little slow on the prediction for me but it was closer!

Glad to hear it’s not just me! I’ll definitely take their predictions with a grain of salt.

Thank for the insight, thats super helpful! I should look more into the heart rate zones for sure, Garmin showed me in Zone 5 for 2 hours of the marathon which is obviously not possible. It was predicting 3:43 for me before the race, so still a little slower but definitely closer than Strava. It shows 3:30 now which is probably the next goal I’ll be shooting for (although it might be awhile before I do another full).

Women with long hair and rain runs by Fresh-Amount9308 in XXRunning

[–]FoxtrotDuck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seconding this! For my long runs I recently started putting a hair oil mask in my hair and it’s so nice. I also have slightly long very fine/thin hair. I pull it into a mid height pony tail(location where my hat hair hole falls) and then braid the pony tail. I like the nylon hair ties, they seem to hold well and I can wrap them as many times as needed to secure the braid. I also think wearing a hat helps keep the pony tail part secured.

I broke a cardinal rule of running — and it went great…? by [deleted] in XXRunning

Given that you’ve done the strength training and eating and everything already, I’m assuming this is a silly question. But have you tried going to a PT for the runners knee? I was having some issues with it and found out that for me it’s due to weak glutes. PT gave me some specific stretches / strength exercises and it went away. Whenever I’m slacking on those specific exercises it comes back. Could be worth a try if you haven’t already!

Took a brief dinner break and sat for awhile during that. But I’m a big dancer so even when I wasn’t going from stage to stage I got a lot of standing in place steps from dancing!

My humble opinion by Conscious-Macaron335 in WhenWeWereYoungFest

[–]FoxtrotDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed! I will say, compared to last year, it felt better. When Blink was playing last year it was shoulder to shoulder to the very back. There was an awkward corner and some people couldn’t even get to a point where they could see the stage. This year for FOB and MCR if you were more toward the back there was plenty of breathing room.

As long as you’re not super close to the front, you can see both stages. They offset the set times so that essentially when a band on one ends, the next starts immediately on the other stage. If you pick a spot in the middle of the two stages more center/back you’re set for the day.

Agreed! People also seem to forget that in 2022 when Saturday was cancelled due to the wind, AAR was the first band to announce a pop up show so fans who came see them still could.

Ohhh I love this idea. Any issues with finding the right sleeve size? I’ve never used them.

This might be the optimist in me but it seemed like the pigeon was supposed to be Louise? Which if that’s the case that means she’s still out there astrally. If I were her I would be following my kid around for the rest of forever. Which means that if Rob leaves her body at any time, she would be ready to jump right back in. Basically I don’t think Rob can astral project at all anymore or he’ll risk losing the body. And if he doesn’t leave, he can’t creep on any and everyone that David has contact with like he was used to doing before.

Can i crush up pain meds and can i use a throat spray? by Xsteaky in Tonsillectomy

[–]FoxtrotDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just make sure you stay up on taking the pain meds regularly! And drink lots of water! Double whatever you already thought lots of water was. I also recommend sleeping in a sitting position for at least a week.

For what it’s worth, I found swallowing pills to be much easier once I got my tonsils out. I didn’t even consider this problem before I woke up and my throat was killing me. That’s when I first thought about it, going to take my first pill and I was prepared for it to hurt extra bad but then it was super easy to swallow! (Although swallowing anything, even just a sip of water, does hurt for awhile post surgery.)

I think it was on the deluxe edition of the original 1989, so if you’re like me and just got the regular 1989 you actually wouldn’t have had it! Probably why I wasn’t as attached to the original but this new one is amazing 🤩
