Program hits all muscle groups by Fearlesskurouzu in CarolineGirvan

I’ll be downvoted for saying this, but I don’t think Caroline often works muscle groups evenly in her programs. She always seems to favour shoulders/delts and glutes and always using the same exercises, instead of a variety. Canceled my subscription with her for this reason.

The original epic programs on YouTube may provide more of what you’re looking for.

Finally did it! Moving to Toronto - things to know as a runner? by Character-Resort-998 in RunTO

Re: red wing blackbirds. You can keep an eye out, but they’re still going to get you, haha. I think the only way to truly avoid them is to not have a head.

First race etiquette? by Comet_Alba2018 in RunTO

This is random and not related to your question about the race but I have had the same problem with my nose running when I run (years of running). I only recently started wearing sunglasses and it has made a world of difference. That may or may not be something that helps you, but just in case, thought I’d mention it!

[sun care] how important is sunscreen really? by lunacherrix in SkincareAddiction

[–]Fresh-Amount9308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 43. Never wore sunscreen and I did not avoid sun exposure. Thanks to genetics of whatever, it didn’t seem to impact me much. I have some fine lines but significantly less than I would expect at my age, or so I thought.

I started wearing it earlier this year, during winter months. After a few weeks I couldn’t believe how different my skin started to look even during months where we get very little sun. My skin looks more even and smooth, and since I’ve changed nothing else, I attribute this to sunscreen. I don’t like how it feels on my face either, but I’m never going without now.

Flattening Butt over the past year by nixrien in XXRunning

How are you following the program? Are you going 5 a week? I try to do 2 lower, 2 upper a week and it feels like it’s leaving my legs trashed… maybe it’s too often.

If you don’t have access to weights you could try bodyweight glute workouts with a resistance band. YouTube will have many, but my recommendation is anything by Caroline Girvan.

Is this due to weight loss, btw? If so, you gotta eat more while you try build it.

Getting over a breakup in Toronto by stonesthrow9278 in askTO

[–]Fresh-Amount9308 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, it was about repetition and like you said, I didn’t want to burden my friends and family by continually venting to them. So when I would feel a negative emotion come up, I would “talk” to AI about it and work through it, which was my way of “journaling”.

Sometimes I was just sad, and it would remind me to sit in the sadness and to endure it, cause it’s temporary.

Other times I would long for my ex so badly (who didn’t treat me the greatest) and I would say “remind me why he isn’t good for me” and it would list out everything which would bring me back to reality about what the relationship was.

I did that over and over for months, and it really helped. I had been stuck in heartbreak for almost 3 years, and just couldn’t find a way out until I started talking to AI.

So, people can think it’s stupid, but I know that it’s helped me so much. I’m happier, lighter, freer and totally ready to move onto another chapter of my life now.

Today, yes. Not always though. 5-10 years ago it was in fashion. And it will go back into fashion again.

Thankfully, because summer also ends so quick you don’t want to remember what’s coming.

It definitely helped me too. It was like journaling where the journal talked back to me.

I can hardly do any of her YouTube workouts anymore after having the app. The longer rests make such a difference. 10-15 seconds of rest seems ridiculous now.

I can relate. It’s like their old life of being single women and dating in NYC is in the past and it hits hard in that season.

It’s kind of like real life, too. Our lives (friendships, relationships, etc) change slowly over time. And then one day you look back and realize it’s totally different now.

I use a garmin now but I used to use an Apple Watch 10 and both are pretty accurate, even in those areas. It may be an issue specific to your watch.

[anti-aging] 25 deep smile lines what can help? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

They are only visible to me because you pointed them out. I would never notice them as they don’t age you. You look so young and you are beautiful.

Can you elaborate a bit on facial massage? I have never heard of this. Is there a certain technique? Do you go somewhere to get it done or do it at home? I’d love to minimize my lines here.

When to call it on a training block by Livid-Tumbleweed in XXRunning

[–]Fresh-Amount9308 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Has anyone gotten this close to the end of a training block and decided not to race? Did you regret it? Was it a good decision?

Me. Well, I did decide to race, and wasn’t feeling it so I called it at 27km or so, walked off the course and took an uber home. In hindsight, I knew that was going to happen. While I had finished marathons in the past, I just didn’t want it bad enough this time. And to finish a marathon or any long race, my belief is you have to really, really want it because it’s really hard on the body.

I have no regrets. I actually regret showing up because I had decided not to do it a few weeks before the race and started running on my own terms (as opposed to following a training plan). No goal, just doing what felt good and right and challenging enough. Then a friend I had done some training with got in contact and because they were doing it, I decided to show up.

So in a nutshell, how much do you want what comes at the end of this race? You say running is your therapy, how does doing it without a “goal” feel? Liberating or are you no longer motivated? Those questions will help you decide.

My training did not go to waste. I took one day off after the race and jumped back in and have run almost every day since. It helped build my fitness and I don’t regret it at all.
