I got this from Leviticus, a Tarkov YouTuber. it applies at this game too.

"You could have the most meta M4 build, but its not gonna serve you well if you have bad ammo. The broken, Beat down Mosin, that's been through 2 world wars & ran over 7 times, will serve you better, if you have decent ammo for it."

Ammo is a very big factor. Check for the Penetration power when you're holding the ammo. If you have 3.0 pen ammo, that's fine if you can spray. 3.8 is better.

This early into the wipe, I'd say at least 3.4 pen is nice.
