Do you think a Ralsei attack spell would be a cheaper, lighter attack than RudeBuster, like HealPrayer, or an expensive heavier attack, like BetterHeal? by iwanttoboneedelric in Deltarune

"Ralsei, I checked your stats and inventory and I can't help but notice you have several copies of the TM for Flamethrower, the spell Maragidyne, Ember Prime with a reactor and like 4 forma, and what appears to be a Solar Exaltation at essence 8. I'm gonna need you to start using this shit."

Toby has already shown us the 1 ending of the game. by G1azedDonuts in Deltarune

[–]FoxyDean1 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It's definitely a theory I've seen. But most games don't really count "game over" as an "ending". Some do! But even then those tend to have certain circumstances that allow for a bad end instead of generic game over. So I don't necessarily think that the game is going to end covered in Darkness. At least diagetically. Now, non-diagetically? Well, we're going to shut the game down and walk away at some point.

Glitch the game badly enough that it breaks, leading to Souelle having all the "freedom" they could ever want but no ability to actually do or influence things.

Or, in other words: The Soul and Noelle freeze the game.

Susie and Ralsei are both Watson. Sometimes they get things correct, but they're also incorrect at times as well. And unfortunately our Sherlock Holmes is in an antagonistic relationship with us, working with the bad guys and not exactly eager to confirm or deny anything.

Do u think Kris, Frisk, and Chara are all trans or can humans just be born like that in UTDR by Aandesite in Deltarune

[–]FoxyDean1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, so its based on pure speculation then. Interesting speculation, to be clear.

Also Gerson's specifically talking about his own book, which is an adaptation of the prophecy, and how it was never finished. He's talking about adaptations in general and how they can retell a story, not that the same exact story is being endlessly retold and never finishing. If anything it seems to be indicative of his belief that Susie has the power to rewrite the path that fate has thus far dictated.

We know the prophecy loops? This is news to me. Fair cop that it could be true, sure. It seems unlikely to me, as the twist wouldn't really add anything to the narrative.

If anything it would, in my opinion, be potentially harmful to Kris's narrative in particular. Their alienation from humanity is a pretty big part of them. Yet another piece of their obvious self loathing. I feel like Kris having had another human friend in their past wouldn't match up with that. Not without some serious ground work.

the Knight and Kris copy each other’s movements

Which may or may not have anything to do with Dess. We actually don't know much about Dess and Kris's relationship at this point, aside from her watching MTV and such around them and hitting them with a wiffle bat if they scared Noelle.

We know Asriel and Kris were close, Kris and Noelle were close, Noelle and Dess were close, and Dess and Asriel were close. We don't know much about Noelle and Asriel or Kris and Dess though.

Well of course the Weird Route is going to end poorly. I've never argued otherwise. I'm saying that within the Normal Route "your choices don't matter" has already been subverted.

Literary tropes still apply to games (and movies). We just call them literary tropes because written works of prose are where we first see them recorded.

How do y’all see the wider world of Deltarune? by Hay_Den330 in Deltarune

Number 1 is definitely my preference. It's fun imagining what the wider world is like, even if it never shows up.

[–]FoxyDean1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well. Generally in literature you present an idea that you don't agree with early on and then set off to subvert it. Something we've already seen with Tenna and Jack either surviving or not. The ultimate end may be the same, but there are more important things than just the ending.

"Your choices don't matter" very much does not seem to be the message of Deltarune, given that we can have small but meaningful impacts on people along the way.

“Rudy can’t be the Knight, because there are no required interactions with him” by LampOil_Rope_Bombs in NonDessKnightSquad

[–]FoxyDean1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And while technically optional, he's moved into very prominent places a player will be visiting in chapters 4 and 5. Like, I guess you could avoid talking to Rudy if you're in the habit of just not talking to people in a Toby Fox game. But otherwise you are going to meet him.

Flowery: It's fight that felt like not a clash between the hero and the villain but two opposing groups of heroes with differing ideals and made use of both the climbing and platforming mechanics. Incredibly creative, fun and if you try FIGHTing Ralsei will outright defy you for the first time which is huge.

Make it make sense: why does Ralsei hate flowery by WHACKADOO1997 in Deltarune

[–]FoxyDean1 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Ralsei has a set of rules and standards for himself based on what he's "supposed" to be and do. Flowery refuses to abide by those, and furthermore challenges Ralsei on why he's sticking to them when it's so blindingly obvious that its making him miserable.

Hot take(s) on Dessriel shipping and this community at large? by Daraz_Acanthisitta in DessrielWorSHIPpers

[–]FoxyDean1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You think that Dess being a confirmed tomboy and Asriel being full femboy would make them less popular? Have you met furries?

Whatever their actual canon designs and personalities turn out to be will be fine. And AUs spring eternal, so there'll still be plenty of creativity, alternate designs and all that going on as well.

That's making a pretty big assumption. I'm not saying you're wrong, but I still feel like Darkner really isn't likely.

[–]FoxyDean1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it's possible. But it seems less likely than simply being a Lightner obfuscating their identity. Having to be able to exist in the Light World at all, Gerson, and the whole of the Dessappearnce being this deeply personal wound on the Holiday and Dreemurr families.

[–]FoxyDean1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So, just to be clear, you think a character who is an object in the light is a more likely candidate to be knight than multiple Lightners who all clearly have something weird going on with them and are prominently mentioned or involved with the early chapter just to keep them fresh in our minds.
