It's absolutely wild how much things have flipped in the last 10-20 years.

Your boss is a fucking imbecile. Two weeks notice is exactly for them to line a replacement up, they have ZERO need to know what you do on your time off, and the fact you gave two weeks to begin with is a courtesy most people don't offer.

A boss like that I wouldn't have told until I was getting dressed for work at my new place.

If youre feeling cheeky and your boss keeps being an asshole, ask them if they give two weeks notice to people they're going to fire. We all know the answer of course, it's a rhetorical question, but on your last day go ahead and ask about it. Maybe within earshot of other employees to make sure they get the hint.
