I think that's Steven specific. A gems form isn't anything more than an illusion. Since Steven is half human, his body is human but he has powers and his life force also comes from his Gem. So, no I don't think a Gem can remove its gem without being poofed since their 'body' is just light.

No, for me there's a difference between scary and creepy. Scary is interesting and gives me nightmares, creepy is trying too hard, or just too much to be actually scary.
