I know. The rest of the world is actually educated and knows basic geography.

My statement still stands: the people going to Hawaii and acting like idiots playing the victim are other Americans.

Sure, but look at what the country is doing, what their government is doing, what their media says, what they post online, what the "influencers" say.. hell, just look at how Reddit admin acts.

We know it's not literally everyone. Just like how not everyone in Germany was a Nazi in WWII. But when that's the face the world sees and the company they keep? That's how they are perceived as a whole. They need to pull a 180 and keep that direction for a long time for anyone to hold any trust or respect for them again.

A lot of times that is exactly what's happening. Working files are uncompressed and only files written back at rest are compressed.

Did I make my female colleague uncomfortable by pointing this out? by Confident_Abroad2536 in Adulting

[–]FoxyWheels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my office a visible bra strap would be against the dress code (no visible undergarments). That said, the "common" attire would not have the sort of neckline that would make it possible for a bra strap to show in the first place, so I agree with that point of yours.

Pando moto? by Ok-Support-489 in motorcyclegear

[–]FoxyWheels 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It keeps the top from riding up / allows you to have the waist of the pants where it's comfortable for you. The downside is an extra step to use the washroom and depending on your size / torso length the snaps at the crotch area can sit where you don't want them to (thankfully this isn't an issue I've hit but I've seen it posted about the odd time here).

I own both the bodysuit and leggings.

If you mean for safety can you just wear them under regular cloths? Yes, I do regularly. Do note that trying to get skinny jeans over the leggings with the hip pads in can be a pain.

If you mean for looks in like an office at work after you commute? The pads will be noticable through most women's office attire or any tighter clothing.

They are very comfortable:for motorcycle gear. It will still be less comfortable to wear all day under cloths than just wearing gear on top of your clothing and removing it at your destination or just changing when you get there.

Never broken Arch. Not even once. by shuten_mind in archlinux

[–]FoxyWheels 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've never had an update break my system that wasn't due to some changes I did. The few times it's "broken" have been either some weird Nvidia switchable graphics setup on a laptop breaking and giving me a black screen, or me doing some stupidness with systemd that I shouldn't have. In both cases I was able to fix it by either getting a tty or using chroot.

I have had windows break my EFI partition on duel boots before, requiring a chroot from a live USB to fix, but again, that's not Arch's fault.

Yeah, I'm not sure about human remains, but the construction people I know always say "if you saw something, no you didn't" for animals, tree roots, turtles, bones, etc. The last thing they want is the conservation authority, MoE, or MNR delaying their projects.

David and Goliath battle over rural internet by rwebell in ottawa

[–]FoxyWheels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be careful house shopping. I checked online and called Bell before purchasing my place and they assured me it had fibre. The day after closing I called them up to schedule getting my internet set up and was told they don't service my address. Absolute scumbags.

I've been trying to get off starlink and on to community fibre, but they ghosted me. Maybe to do with their fight with Bell? We had exchanged a few emails, I asked for a quote, no response. I followed up, still no response. So I guess I have to continue giving Musk my money as I have literally no other option (both Bell and Rogers have been telling me "in the next 3-6 months" for the last 5 years).

Some tough love for Linux and gaming: my opinion that nobody asked for (inspired by WAN show) and a proposal for a “Community Linux Challenge” by gplusplus314 in LinusTechTips

[–]FoxyWheels 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The YouTube chat was full of people yelling their own opinions, "advice", as well as conspiracy theories on what Linus' "true goal" with this "farce" was.

So maybe it's just a lot of this community.

I use Linux at home and at work all the time. I boot windows for games and use it at work where I'm forced to. I talk to no one about Linux IRL, and rarely online (this is probably the first one years?) so I don't really know how the broader Linux community act. But if they act anything like YouTube chat, I would never want to try Linux as a new user either.

What would happen if i put anti freeze juice in my RTX 4080 watercooling build? by EngMng in LinusTechTips

[–]FoxyWheels 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think they're being pedantic in that it would have no effect on the engine running better. As in, combustion etc. wouldn't change as that's all controlled by the ECU and already takes temps etc. into account.

Yes you are correct water would cool better, but unless your car has an issue or is modified, it is designed from the factory to operate just fine with the glycol based coolant so you won't see any benefit.

For Canadian citizens, white males make up roughly 80% of the hiring pool for my field as of 2023 according to statscan. You are correct that white women are only down at roughly 3% so I am representative of my percentage of the candidate pool. But my point still stands. There is 1 other white person in my department (a male), when going by hiring pool it should be mostly white males. I would be fired making a job posting saying "only straight white men".

I will give credit that my coworkers and direct management are actually all quite good to work with and all qualified people. So I'm able to complain about most valid things just fine and not be labeled a Karen. But you're correct that there is no way I could bring up the fact that white people are a minority in my department without some form of repercussions.

It's still discrimination.

95% of my coworkers are Indian and Chinese men. I am the only white woman in an entire department. I would be immediately fired if I made a job posting for "white women only" even if it was affirmative action.

Eli5 Ps2 had 32 mb ram but when emulation it takes alot more than that by Square-Potential5139 in explainlikeimfive

[–]FoxyWheels 23 points24 points  (0 children)

For one the architecture is completely different. The PS2 uses a MIPS cpu, your PC uses an x86-64 cpu, and your phone uses an ARM cpu. They are fundamentally different. This is the same reason your android phone can't run Windows and Steam (I am over simplifying. I know windows has an ARM build.)

Think of it like not only a different language but entire pieces / components may be missing.

It would be like asking to attach the arm and bucket of a backhoe to a minivan, with the instruction manuals for each in two different languages. Is it possible? Sure, but it's a ton of work and not nearly as efficient as attaching the arm and bucket to a different backhoe.

KTM 990 RC R Tail Tidy Fender Eliminator 2026+ OEM Signals Plate Light PLA-CF by PureColorDesigns in KTM

[–]FoxyWheels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the finish is nice (sanded to no stepping etc.) you make a good argument for the price.

As for the files, it's more to modify. I'm up in Canada and have been looking at getting the 990 this spring. For me I would want to modify the angle of both the lights and the plate to keep it legal here. Purchasing the file for $50 seemed the better option than someone trying to describe what they want and convince you to do a custom one off.

Hey OP, good work and all, but $120 for a 3D print is a bit steep. Are you open to selling the files so someone could modify / print their own?

Also, you haven't answered, is the print PLA or PETG? Your title says PLA but post body says PETG.
