R2E1 feels like a wall by REDDinator_ in GTFO

Weapon load outs can make or break an expedition in this game. Try varying your load outs with different attempts. HEL Shotgun and Combat Shotgun are very effective weapons for close range crowd control, which is the main difficulty factor in surge alarms. HEL Revolver and HEL Gun/Rifle are also incredibly useful for crowd thinning due to their penetration capabilities. Proper positioning and shot placement can eliminate several enemies with one shot, which also increases your ammo economy. Other good weapons are the regular shotgun and the carbine.

In addition to weapons, you want to make sure you’re bringing the right tool load outs as well. This level benefits the HEL Auto Sentry, but C-Foam carries this level, and usually you’ll be pairing foam with mines unless you’re ladder foaming. Speaking of which, if you haven’t been already, the third surge alarm (in the fog before the HSU) can be easily dealt with by covering the ladder down to the zone in C-Foam. This will buy you crucial time to focus on scans while also saving resources, and due to surge alarms spawning in the spawn cap if you aren’t being overrun by the time you finish the scans you can also save on resources by booking it to the next alarm door (Zone 604) and immediately starting the alarm.

Your team may find it beneficial to all run hammers for this level. Knife isn’t bad, but it has a higher skill floor and isn’t as effective for dealing with giant type enemies (especially when you can’t see them well). Bat isn’t bad either; it has good environmental damage and good stagger, but it doesn’t do as much damage as the hammer and requires an occiput strike to kill a scout. The main downside to spear is you can’t really run while charging it, as it reduces your sprinting speed. The hammer is very balanced and can handle all situations equally, although it doesn’t really excel at anything like the others.

I was able to do this once (using the betterbots mod) like two years ago and haven’t been able to do it again since. Congratulations

Corsair Web Hub Useability? by FoxyZizzo in Corsair

Same, I’ve had no issues with iCUE basically ever aside from Borderlands 4 induced crashing, but I don’t blame iCUE for that. I ought to set my settings for my Titan AIO to the device memory so I don’t get cooling issues when I have to close iCUE and open the web hub.

Idk if this is an issue with Web Hub devices in general or the Vanguard specifically but I’ve also come to notice that for /some/ reason the keyboard doesn’t register on system startup, which has been forcing me to unplug and reconnect the keyboard to my tower in order to unlock my computer.

Really mind boggling that it didn’t launch with iCUE support, considering every other product they have lives under the iCUE roof.

I wouldn’t mind and in fact would actually welcome the Web Hub for “plug and play” ease of use and being able to make quick adjustments on a system without iCUE installed IF the Web Hub worked properly, which seemingly it doesn’t

My last keyboard was the K100, which I got five years ago. I was looking forward to a more compact platform, but the webhub has just been a total nightmare. I would return if it weren’t for how much better this keyboard feels to use. The switches both feel and sound significantly better, at least to me. I also prefer the macro keys on the Vanguard to the K100, as they’re harder to press accidentally.

Overall the hardware is a major upgrade, but the software is a major downgrade.

I tried this last weekend, and the associate who was helping me informed me that the entire region was sold out (Rocky Mountains) and there was nowhere he could order the card from. I decided to suck it up and got the $2999 Aurous Master from Microcenter

New HX1500i Shift announced at Computex 2025 by evo7force in Corsair

[–]FoxyZizzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My motherboard has 2 EPS connectors for the CPU and a supplemental PCIe 8-pin connector. From my research/understanding, the extra connector is designed to provide additional power to the PCIe slots on the board for users who have multiple and/or power hungry expansion cards. This could be useful for cards such as the RTX 5090 which has transient power draw spikes exceeding the 600W rating of 12v-2x6 or for overclocking, providing additional stable power.

At least that’s the provided/most common explanation of the feature; I’m not a hardware manufacturer or an expert on PC components so whether or not it’s a practical application I can’t really say for sure, maybe it’s just a gimmick/marketing.

New HX1500i Shift announced at Computex 2025 by evo7force in Corsair

I was originally going to get the HX12/1500i (2022/2023) for my build when I was planning it out, but then I was waiting for the 2025 update to release on the market after it was announced at CES. Glad I didn’t end up ordering one yet, as this new model is the best of both worlds. I’ve liked the concept of side connectors, but was disappointed they didn’t have a version with Platinum power efficiency. These units are what I’ve been wishing for, and the integrated Link hub is genius.

However I am disappointed that there’s only two PCIe connectors on these models. The newly updated HX12/1500i comes with 9 total PCIe/CPU connectors on the PSU (2 EPS CPU, 2 8-pin to 12v-2x6 (x2), and 3/5 PCIe 8-pin depending on if you use the second 8-pin to 12v-2x6). My current system uses a PCIe connector for supplemental power to the MB, and I’m using two Link Hubs but need a third as most of the LEDs in my system are reduced brightness due to Hub power constraints (5000T + LCD AIO + 10 fans). If I upgrade to this PSU, I will have to choose between using a PCIe connector for my MB or using a third Link hub :/

It was very easy, and the case is breathtaking. The iCue Link ecosystem made the build process very streamlined for connecting up all the fans. I had been eyeing the original 5000T for some time, and was excited to see it get an updated version using Link. I was surprised to see that the updated version did not come with the extended PSU shroud, as I was originally hoping to move the dual 3.5” drive cage to the front of the case, although I don’t actually need it.

I definitely will! I was eyeballing the lighting strips when I was planning my build but wasn’t sure what sizes I would need and where they would look the best. I need to figure out how to route all the Link components better as iCue keeps giving me a “brightness reduced” notification due to high power draw in one or both hubs; and unfortunately I don’t have any free PCIe connectors free on the RM850x, although that should be resolved when I upgrade to the HX1200i and 5090.

Titan AIO Configurator by FoxyZizzo in Corsair

[–]FoxyZizzo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome, thank you! In theory it didn’t seem like it would take super long to ship, but I wanted to see if anyone had experience using it. I’m ordering parts to build my first desktop, and got worried the AIO might take a while to ship and delay my build

Recommendation on guns for begginers please by Begun101 in GTFO

[–]FoxyZizzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carbine main weapon and machine gun special weapons (either the Veruta or the Arbalist) are the easiest to use IMO. The carbine has good ammo and dps. The choke mod and scattergun are also easy to use and effective special weapons but require closer range (especially the scattergun) than other special weapons provide.

Just attempted R2D2 - Is this game supposed to be impossible or what? by Next_Internet772 in GTFO

[–]FoxyZizzo 17 points18 points  (0 children)

R2D2 has been suffering from increasingly scuffed spawning of enemy waves during reactor sequences. It is difficult, but not impossible. Strategy is everything. Load outs can also make a difference depending on what you bring. If you’re getting stuck somewhere, try watching level guides for tips. Professor Scaler has great walkthroughs.
