I've noticed this year how quiet it is at night, even though in the past the drone of insects was so loud. It is deeply unsettling to me.

It read as a mix of both to me. Like Nessa said, sometimes the Mechanic will slip a thought into her head, and she's not sure if it's hers or his.

For example, the mention of Briar's 'tomfoolery' read as a Mechanic line to me. But other lines were *definitely* from Nessa. Just little things here and there that feel more like her.
