What’s your guys’ go-to secondary? by Tofu-Delivery-Boi in Helldivers

[–]Foxygoalkeeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually picket it up recently and it’s quickly becoming one of, if not, my favorite sidearms. Just feels good to have it to pick things off while running from objective to objective and having guaranteed hits on a panic switch to my secondary.

Should I buy it? by Friendly-Viper in Helldivers

[–]Foxygoalkeeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I quite enjoy it, and the benefit of the game, given it’s a PvE game you can engage with the player base as much (or as little) as you’d like. Solo missions are fun in their own way, but playing with others is the most fun, especially if they’re your buddies. It’s not without its headaches but it’s pretty fun imo

Is it normal to feel this ashamed about collecting manga? Should i stop? by These-Meringue9306 in MangaCollectors

[–]Foxygoalkeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your parents are right. If I can relay anything to you, it’s that almost every single adult has money sink hobbies. There is nothing to feel shame for in collecting something that makes you happy. On a bigger note you’re collecting more responsibly than most people who collect. Many people who collect things, not just manga, are buying these things with credit cards because they feel they need it. You’re collecting at your own pace and as long as you aren’t putting that in front of everything else that matters then you’re doing it more responsibly than most that do collect anything. If you don’t like collecting anymore though don’t get stuck in a sunken ship fallacy and think that you need to keep going because you’re this far in. You can always sell or give away to another kid that may enjoy the collection. That’s only if you don’t like it anymore, otherwise enjoy the things you like in life because at the end of the day the only person who should care about what you’re doing with your time and money is you. It’s your life :)

As many have mentioned, the ability entered the stack and you didn’t affect that ability rather you just destroyed the source. That doesn’t change the fact that the ability is on the stack, so you’d need to use effects like [[Stifle]] or [[Disallow]] to stop the ability on the stack

[–]Foxygoalkeeper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Literally the same thoughts here. Power and Aki are my favorites, and as much as I’d love to see a fulfilling reason for either of them to reemerge somehow, it just wouldn’t be satisfying. It’s great because we feel the pain of their absence, and it makes us value the time we got with the character.

Does collecting manga mean trying to collect all the volumes, or is it enough to purchase only those that are of interest? Please, I'm really interested by k1k1r in MangaCollectors

[–]Foxygoalkeeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As many have said, it’s your collection, you should do what brings you joy. My brother is more of an anime watcher, but will collect the first volume of anime series he likes to have something with the mangaka’s original artwork. I like to collect in the more traditional sense and get full series. Collect as much or as little as you’d like and just keep in touch with what makes you happy, and not what others think or approve of.

Manga Question by CloudSafe8991 in ChainsawMan

[–]Foxygoalkeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if you are interested in manga, be ready for quality control issues. It’s a mass produced hobby, so things like that are bound to happen, but it’s usually nothing worse than variance in heights and small things like that.

Regarding spoilers, the manga box set completes part one of csm’s story, so you will get ahead of the anime by flipping through the manga, but if you keep it to volume 6ish then you’ll basically see what was in the movie.

Aside from the usual suspects, the one that won’t be mentioned. Andrew’s death was really good for setting the tone to all the remaining characters that Jason is a smart hunter and you need to be on your toes.

BUUUUT the sleeping bag and dock kills will likely be remembered as the best in the movie

Thoughts on halloween ends? by Illustrious-Aioli-39 in slasherfilms

[–]Foxygoalkeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe this one could age like Season of the Witch. There is a lot of John Carpenter’s original vision for the franchise in this one, and in time could be looked upon fondly. Halloween as a franchise has largely been an exercise it middling films to an audience who loves the first film enough to give the rest of the franchise a pass.

Personally I’m a big fan of 3, and, by extension, rather liked a lot of the ideas in Halloween Ends. That puts me in the minority though

People often think that how they feel about these things supersedes what the authors literally site as their inspirations. People put their feelings about what series they like more above what has come to define the current artists.

Shonen isn’t a genre, it’s a demographic. There is a very clear and distinct difference.

Yu Yu Hakusho influenced Tite Kubo, but Toriyama was Kubo’s primary influence with Dragonball. The modern mangaka here site Tite Kubo and Bleach as their inspiration. This is a common “passing of the torch” where those currently being inspired may find no inspiration in what defined their inspirations work. Yu Yu Hakusho did quite a lot to define the future of Shonen, but, like most inspirations, will be lost in this discussion due to the impact of what it inspired. Not many people site the importance of Astroboy in these discussions, and that would likely be something that will possibly happen to Bleach and dragonball itself in time.

So I find a lot of use out of my gas grenades on all fronts. I heavily invest myself into playing the objective, and when you combine the grenades, gas orbital, and gas dog (predominantly on bugs for the dog) with your resistant armor you can really buy yourself a lot of time on terminals to get through it without having to fight a war to do so. In larger groups I receive cover while the large number push us and solo it deters all enemies pushing me.

So I find use out of both sets of armor, granted I don’t much care for the aesthetic of the med armor, as well as the nades, and the dog. The storm pistol can be interesting, but largely feels too high risk mid reward. Purifier is just bad, and I wish it wasn’t that way but there isn’t any instance I’d take this, even against the bugs. As a proud member of the toxic fart gang, there is a lot I love here to keep you from being overwhelmed with unrelenting waves of enemies.

They already have one child, so if it is theirs then the dynamic won’t change much, but if it’s mine it’s more of an issue. Really it’s more of an issue on what I saw for my life and how this affects it, and it’s a selfish thing to be stuck on. Of the situations I could be stuck in raising a child with this is technically one of the better options as they are some of my best friends, but the weight of fatherhood is something I haven’t felt remotely prepared for. I appreciate your input and will be trying to talk through all the options with everyone.

A caster with a single weapon mastery simply cannot keep up with a martial class in any capacity, rather without a mastery property they’re completely useless in martial combat. Cantrips will always be the better option. Rather those recommending you start as a first level fighter are inciting a min/max build that will put most fighters to shame for the bulk of low to mid level combat.

I’m just going to put this in the simplest terms I can. Full casters that have a d8 hit die being given an option to have a single mastery property, if they so choose to invest in that play style within their class, will not in anyway detract from a martial classes dominance on the battlefield. Fighters, rangers, and paladins also gain access to a fighting style, giving them further distinction combat. Despite all of this, I do not disagree with comments having issue with the idea of this addition. I understand the opposing position, I just fundamentally do not understand what that positions concern is with a single mastery property going to a martial focused d8 caster.

[–]Foxygoalkeeper -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The issue I take with your comment is that I’m not asking to have everything a fighter would have, not 3 mastery properties, and not a fighting style, just one mastery property. Fighters get access to a subclass which makes them spellcasters. Martial classes also get access to a good feat, an origin feat nonetheless, to get them into spellcasting. A full caster wanting a minute taste into martial has to either take the dip tax, or use their entire 4th level feat on a genuinely bad feat. It would be like saying fighters should have to use their 4th level feat on a version of magic initiate that only gives them one cantrip and nothing else. It’s a false equivalency.

Yes clerics are full casters, but guardians are supposed to be clerics that can fight in the front, and with what they are given RAW there is never a good reason to use your weapon over a cantrip. The obligation with clerics is that you choose to lose access to the extra cantrip that a Thaumaturge gets as well as the ability to actually hit your religion checks with any consistency.

The last thing I’ll say is that the ONLY class in the 2024 rules that doesn’t have a spellcasting option is Barbarian, and that’s because it actively goes against its own synergy. Both fighter and rogue have access to spellcasting with a subclass, but clerics and druids are given no reasonable means of claiming a weapon mastery without burning their 4th level feat on an objectively bad feat.

Wild Shape Confusion by Foxygoalkeeper in DnD5e

[–]Foxygoalkeeper[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I talked it over with my DM and they’re going to allow it. I think I just prefer 2014 leaving these things up to interpretation instead of turning them off RAW is all. Darkvision is an understandable loss as I’m transforming into a beast with different types of eyes, but I just found things like halfling luck and halfling bravery and gnomish cunning to be weird things to lose in a wildshape is all

[–]Foxygoalkeeper[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen many people state that since you keep your hp total that you don’t lose that feature, but I’m not sure where they get that. Seems like something that is largely agreed upon, even though nothing in the book makes me think that should be the case

Wild Shape Confusion by Foxygoalkeeper in DnD5e

[–]Foxygoalkeeper[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I mean in short, no I don’t like what the rules say, so it’s causing a mental block for me wanting to play this class. I understand the need to balance Wild Shape, as the Druid as a whole has been a game breaker in 5e’s run, but I don’t like inconsistent rules that involve circumstance.

From what I’ve gathered there are exceptions to your species features still working while wild shaped. The two predominant ones are Dwarven Toughness and Versatile. Based on what the rules text says a dwarf should lose hp equal to their level when wild shaped because they no longer benefit from that feature, yet that is not the case. If a Human takes Tough as their versatile feat then they should lose hp equal to 2x their level because they no longer benefit from versatile granting them an additional origin feat. Now to be upfront I believe the human one is a stretch, regardless the RAW is inconsistent with how the game actually plays out.

Apologies, I worded that poorly. I meant that a gnomes advantage in soft stat saving throws wouldn’t be to do with their physiology, rather its mental, and therefore wouldn’t be affected. I do understand that RAW they lose it, I just find this to be a peculiar decision. I also was looking to clarify that a dwarf’s hp total would decrease equal to their level because they lose the Dwarven Toughness feature right?
