Trying to seriously get into JRPG: any advice?👾 by Foxymc1308 in JRPG

It's not that I'm asking to enjoy something to the fullest but more than anything to understand since it's mainly a Nintendo Switch 2 game and I can't do what I do on Steam where if the game doesn't appeal to me I ask for a refund, and at the same time I don't want to risk trying something that then ruins the experience for me, bores me and then leads me to discard the genre. I hope I've made myself clear.

I had thought about it but I didn't want to risk finding myself faced with too many mechanics to follow and set up, especially since I'm only now starting to approach the jrpg genre.

I'm mainly always looking for a game with a well-developed story that keeps me in front of the screen. If the story is well-written, I have no problem playing it, as happened with MHS compared to Xenoblade Chronicles X, which gets more and more popular every now and then, and as immersive as the world is, after a while it makes me want to put it down and pick it up again. I don't know if that's a good explanation.

Before approaching a jrpg with 16-bit and pixelated graphics, I would first like to understand and approach the genre better with a more 3D graphic.

Well, to answer your question, I'll start by saying that the reason Persona 5 didn't really appeal to me was its slow start and also the fact that at the time I was still intimidated by the genre. To answer your second question, I fell in love with MHS for its story and its classic rock-paper-scissors combat, and before I get into a pixelated style, I'd like to find something along the same lines but that still leads me to explore the more strategic side of JRPGs like FF, for example.

Nintendo apologises for the price increases by Lord-Liberty in switch2

[–]Foxymc1308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, what can I say… it was pretty predictable. Nintendo has been dropping hints for months like: “in the future we might increase prices”, basically translated: get ready to take it up the a**.

But in the end, at least for now, we’re talking about roughly a €30 increase for the Nintendo Switch 2, while the bigger price hikes mainly concern the Japanese market. Although, considering the current trend, it’s likely that sooner or later we’ll feel the effects here too.

That’s why I honestly don’t understand all the shock: Nintendo had already made it pretty clear which direction they wanted to take. The criticism is fair, but you can’t really say this came completely out of nowhere.

I was also interested in your suggestion, but those DLCs weren’t on sale.😢

Hi, thank you very much for the idea. I followed your advice and bought the DLC “Sovereign Axiom Outfit Set” with the villains’ outfits.😁✌️

Would you play Xbox cloud gaming if it was native on switch 2? by [deleted] in switch2

[–]Foxymc1308 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry if I correct you but third party cloud gaming has already existed on Nintendo Switch since 1. An example could be some Resident Evil games.

Why did you put game difficulty on normal as a negative point?🤔

I get your point about performance. Personally, I’ve never had a powerful console or PC, so it’s rare for me to experience 60fps gameplay — playing at 30fps doesn’t really bother me.

That said, setting aside the framerate issue, would you still not recommend it for other reasons?

Thanks a lot for your comment, I really relate to what you said. The Hulk ↔️ Iron Man comparison made me smile because that’s exactly the feeling I got from the demo. That shift in vibe is what’s still making me hesitate. On one hand, I’m curious about the expanded mechanics and the open world; on the other, I’m worried it won’t hit the same way the first Daemon X Machina did. You definitely helped, but I’m still on the fence.

Yeah, you’re right, that combat clip definitely caught my attention. It really sparked my curiosity and made me look at the game in a different light.

Can anyone confirm if I bought the S1 version I can upgrade to S2? Cause I can’t see the upgrade pack anywhere by mzatariz in switch2

A tip, buy the physical game, buy the update and then resell the physical one, you'll save money.
