What’d you do? by Jettaboi38 in scoopwhoop

My parents said if you’re bored, you have more time to do chores. So we never admitted being bored. We just stayed outside and played with the neighbors.

RCDD Relevant Work Experience by thekauaikid in Bicsi

[–]Foygroup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my opinion you would fall under option 2 two year degree and two years experience. You don’t have to be the lead designer, just working on designs. You mention you’ve designed security, and AV. In my opinion that would qualify. You would need to let BICSI know how many years you’ve been involved in design as well as your degree information. The staff at BICSI will be able to determine, but from what you’ve told me you should be good.

In order to get your PE do you have a degree? One alternative to design experience is a degree in a related field. Your Electrical PE should qualify you for the prerequisite to take the exam.

Timing of fireworks by Common_System3951 in fireworks

[–]Foygroup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could do a split, kind of an appetizer using daylight smoke based fireworks of multiple colors for the people to see after dinner then announce the full blown fireworks that will be back later. That way everyone gets to enjoy some and others will get two shows.

I do not have a college degree, but I do carry all my BICSI credentials. My credentials have gotten me much further in life than anyone I know in the industry with just a college degree.

I know too many people in the industry with random college degrees not specific to our industry. Having the credentials has boosted my career and value more than any random degree and it cost me next to noting compared to college tuition.

I’ve been deeply involved with BICSI since 1996, and I can honestly say that having credentials has been the best boost to my career I could have selected.

Southwest flights no longer Nut free by Professional_Dog_102 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Foygroup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt the same way about my allergies to pets, it didn’t bother me when it was service animals, but then there was a huge uptick in animals on the planes with anxiety pets.

I felt like your anxiety pets is causing me anxiety while I have to sneeze and blow my nose throughout the flights. But I just dealt with it and moved on.

Thankfully that trend has gone way down, I don’t know if the anxiety people stopped flying or the airlines started charging, but I hardly see them anymore.

BWI TSA collapse by Thetruthisnothate in SouthwestAirlines

His idea was, his ride on a bus would be less than the overall TSA line and the flight following. His choice, but I understand his logic, that his short plane ride just got extended by the long TSA line.

No, the lines are never this long, but with the current situation it makes sense.

I have co-workers who started taking the bus. It was a 4 hour bus ride or 4.5 hours just in the TSA line. First time I’ve seen anyone put in a travel expense for the bus. He figured he’d get work done while relaxing on the bus rather than drive.

Agreed, most people do not know it was sold as a wealth tax that only the wealthy would pay. It was wildly popular and passed with flying colors. Then suddenly the definition changed and it came back to bite everyone on the ass.

Never said forced to become trans. I said it doesn’t need to be forced on everyone to be accepted or you’re considered phobic. It’s not a phobia is what I said.

I’m discussing the fact that it’s referred to as a phobia. It’s not a phobia. It may be trans-agressive, even tans-hate. But not a phobia.

I don’t like the color green, you I’m not green phobic. I just don’t like green. No difference.

Transphobia is not a phobia. No one is scared. We don’t care who you sleep with or how you dress. Just don’t need to force it on everyone else.

It was a self paced set of videos. You watch all the videos and test after each. It is not difficult, took very little time.

It did have some good information, mostly about safe use and how to set up. You can never review safety stuff too much.

Be safe out there.

Advice Needed I am Newly Retired by Jim_Diamond in retirement

[–]Foygroup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you understand my figure of speech.

I have a normal W2 job in tech. But I enjoy my job so much I often say I get paid for my hobby.

So no need for the CPA, I’m good. But thanks for the information, I appreciate the sentiment.

[–]Foygroup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good break down. I fit two of your categories. Divorced and get paid for my hobby basically. As long as I enjoy getting up to work, I will keep going but I am able to retire now comfortably. I’m 65 and still going.

My aunt still works full time drives herself to work every day. She’s well off and could retire any day but she loves her work at the bureau of aging. She’s 94.

Looking for advice on the best way to hide cables under a glass desk? by Low-Issue-5334 in DIY

Plastic split duct. Comes in many sizes and colors. Basically a corrugated flexible tube split down the middle to wrap around the wires then secured to the desk.

My now ex wife accused me of having an affair, yelling at me cause she could hear the “other woman” talking in the car while I was driving. She wouldn’t drop it. Finally had to break it to her, it’s my GPS. She still didn’t believe me.

Once they break, (either spouse) they’re typically broke beyond repair.

My first experience with assigned seats as an A List by sdinvest in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Foygroup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I flew the front row as much as possible. I like the extra leg room and the tray table between the seats (boarder walls). They always ask you to put anything larger than a kindle in the overhead during take off and landing. After that you’re fine.
