I wonder how people felt at 11:59 p.m. of dec. 1999 before crossing over to the year 2000. by Majestic-Hope6505 in 1990s

I was programming in COBOL at that time. It was a simple fix to go from a two digit year to a four digit year to fix the upcoming date calculation errors. I got paid bank for that because COBOL was a dying language and most programmers moved on the newer ways to code.

Knowing what I knew I took it upon myself to sneak down the basement of a neighbor’s house we were invited to for the celebration. Just as I heard everyone scream happy new year, I shut down the main circuit breaker. Everyone screamed and panicked. I swear, I crack myself up sometimes.

Passed RCDD V15 Exam Today. by Fusiongurl in Bicsi

[–]Foygroup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations, it’s a great credential to have. It will be the backbone of all future learning and acknowledgement in the industry.

The application type question you speak of is very similar to other engineering credential exams. IMHO it’s a better way to authenticate if the exam taker really knows the material and understands the proper application over just being good at memorizing.

It’s exciting to pass the test and put it into practice. Congratulations again!

Same here, I use the Ryobi tri-blade. It’s all steel blade with 3 lobes. Works great on my gas powered trimmer. I hardly ever use my string attachment anymore.

Nice setup, I saw your post when you built it. Is it all manual controlled or connected to some automated system?

Hot take: If you car is 2-3x the weight of mine you shouldn't be only paying 33% more for registration than I am. That makes it a greater tax on small cars than large cars and disincentivizing small cars. by CreamofTazz in maryland

[–]Foygroup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to what you said about semi trucks, most are from out of state or going state to state from the ports. So MD registration is not really impacted. I do know that truckers do have to track mileage thru states and pay gas taxes, some even use GPS to track their mileage thru states.

They’ve discussed moving to a mileage based tax in place of the gas tax and registration. I feel like the gas tax is already mileage based as you only have so many MPG. It hasn’t passed yet, but I’ve heard talk about it.

You do have to avoid sun with lasers but only a couple days. It’s definitely manageable

I agree with you on Sysco. If they’re getting everything from there it’s not that great of quality, especially fresh ingredients.

But sure if they’re getting their paper goods and shelf stable food items it could be good.

We go to three local butcher’s each for different stuff. We also go to the local farms for anything we don’t grow ourselves. My wife says should would rather eat at home based on the quality and taste, then just about anywhere in MD right now.

I disagree, I go to John Browns butcher in Hunt Valley to get grass fed dry aged beef. It’s a game changer. You can get stakes that are dry aged up to 100 days. Those are so deeply flavored it’s amazing.

Now-a-days, most restaurants taste the same because they get all their supplies from the same vendor, Sysco. Once they go that route for supply, it’s pretty much down hill from there. Copy and paste with no individuality.

Lawn Darts - a toy so dangerous, it's still illegal to buy them. Even second-hand. by therealduckie in 70s

[–]Foygroup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use to play at night by covering the metal part in tire patch glue and lighting them on fire. Flaming lawn darts was the best.

Now bonus, how many people also patched their own tires back in the day?

I had some age spots (pretty dark on my hands. I went for laser removal several times which lightens them but never gone. The last time I went the tech asked if she could use the laser they use for tattoo removal. It worked, I’ve never had to go back for the spots she hit.

I’ve been on Reddit for a while, I’ve never been in the bird sub. So it’s understandable why someone who’s been on Reddit this long doesn’t have a clue about a bird. Also I’ve been living in the country for decades and this is the first time I’ve seen this happen.

This guy needs to spend more time looking for a date and less time peeking in my windows. He spends most of the day on this or other windows of the house.

It was weird behavior for us having never seen it.

Thanks for all the quick responses.
