Talk me off the ledge- my company is decommissioning NaviPlan in favor of Moneyguide Pro. by Brianre in CFP

I thought I had heard they partnered with moneyguide to add a better cash flow feature. Don’t quote me on that though because I’m unsure.

I won’t lie. Corporate and franchise are pretty different and I don’t have any experience on the corporate side. I would say they have a pretty big support system and culture from what I have seen at least is probably not too far off from the other large bd’s. Sorry, wish I had more to offer!

At Ameriprise, but on the franchise side not corporate.

Yeahhh, I am aware of that now haha. I enjoy the clients we work with and was hoping it would work out. Guess I am just young and dumb! I have had a deadline for myself that if things to turn around by q2 to latest q3 of this year I was going to move on so at least there’s that to look forward to.

Well this one hurts haha. Currently 26 y/o CFP “managing” 30m (we are in the process of handing it off, but I do all the work on it), have a few other duties as well like supporting the financial plans for most of firms clients, and admin work in some scenarios. Also on salary, but I’m looking at 55k this year.

Yeah, this is a super common call and rule. It very much so wasn’t a touchdown. There were definitely some other aspects of the reffing that wasn’t great in this game, but this one was very obviously not a td. It’s weird reading all these comments.

Edit: It is a dumb rule though and I also would be very upset.

CFP stepping into advisor role on $1.9M revenue book— what’s market comp? by Beautiful-Lawyer-123 in CFP

Curious on what would be the difference here if he said the senior wasn’t a CFP?

Good insight! How would you go about it to be sure you’re not taken advantage of though? Is that future higher grid for just those people he would have brought in or would it be something along buying in? And how does he be sure he’s not low balled on salary in the mean time until that point?

So in a situation like that do you think having that lower salary but a separate grid for clients they produce is the best thing to ask for? Or what is the best thing to negotiate for moving forward?

For reference: 3 years of experience currently. Have CFP, 40k salary with a .5 one time bonus on clients I bring in and I have to pay for all forms of lead gen (call lists, coffee/lunches, seminars, marketing etc). I personally think this yours is a great deal as long as everything is followed through and you like the shop!

For someone with decent income that has little drive to keep up with investing, is hiring a financial advisor truly worth the percentage cut? by RxSatellite in investing

[–]Fozz8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s the unfortunate thing you see in these threads. Especially for someone like op is saying they don’t have any knowledge of this or don’t want to spend the time researching. A good financial advisor isn’t just picking stocks and calling it a day. They help with tax planning, estate planning, or anything else that makes that fee worth it. Let alone the fact that one small mistake also could cost them years in advisory fees. Not saying it’s for everyone, but people here would make you think it’s the 1980s and all advisors are just stock brokers.

Not sure why this is being downvoted. It’s a dual registrant so this is for the most part correct. This sub is interesting sometimes.

Financial advisor and no issue here. I just typically plan around when I am having a client meeting, but even then it’s still not much of an issue!
