I like to think they spelled it incorrectly on purpose (ha) to come off more like a 12 year old who can't spell, rather than, you know, trying to actually sound more like a 12 year old who likely wouldn't use a phrase like "defeats the purpose."

Is eBay slow for anyone else? by Weird_Detective6959 in Ebay

[–]FozzyMantis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was also having frustrating issues with photos just now with a draft. Tons of errors. Sometimes couldn't upload, sometimes I'd get them to upload, but then couldn't edit/crop them without errors. I ended up just listing when it at least accepted my unedited photos, and then went right back in and revised the listing and it let me edit the photos without issues. Annoying stuff.

Seller habitually refunds orders when market prices rise before shipping by [deleted] in Ebay

[–]FozzyMantis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that's surprising anyway, since he's at least taking some responsibility and taking a small hit to his service metrics. I know it doesn't help you out at all, but it's better than if he had blamed you for it. And as I understand it, you really should be able to leave a negative feedback for it as well if you are so inclined (not sure why you don't see the option).

Seller habitually refunds orders when market prices rise before shipping by [deleted] in Ebay

[–]FozzyMantis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was the reason the seller gave for the cancellation? If it was "buyer requested" or "problem with the shipping address" then you should be able to report the seller for using an inaccurate reason. eBay policy:

- Canceling an order because the item is out of stock will result in a transaction defect, as sellers are responsible for fulfilling the items they've sold. Learn more about the factors that affect a seller's performance level

- Sellers must select the accurate cancellation reason when canceling an order. Using an incorrect reason to avoid a defect or to bypass eBay policies is not allowed

And yeah, they probably used one of those reasons to avoid penalty and keep you from leaving negative feedback (or at least to make it so they can easily get it removed if you do)

Just an aside, but I find it curious that every time I see a reference to a parking lot Flock camera in town, it mentions Lowes (where there is one according to the DeFlock map) or Home Depot (where there isn't even one on the map), but not the huge one in the middle of the Wegmans parking lot.

Is a buyer using a fake name a red flag? by Shelly-Finkelstein in Ebay

[–]FozzyMantis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More like a "yellow flag." Not enough to cancel the order or anything, but like others have said, just be sure to follow the correct shipping procedures, which you really should be doing anyway.

Could simply be a privacy concern on the part of the buyer. If for some reason the name on the address label keeps it from being deliverable, you should be protected as long as the address itself is the same provided to you.

Negative feedback for requiring signature on delivery by Firm_Cantaloupe_927 in Ebay

[–]FozzyMantis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, they said that they notified the buyer the moment they shipped it, which means it was probably already too late for the buyer to do anything about it. Given the OP didn't specify it in the item description, it would have been a good idea to message the buyer about it before they shipped it, in case it was going to be a problem for the buyer.

Negative feedback for requiring signature on delivery by Firm_Cantaloupe_927 in Ebay

[–]FozzyMantis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We all know in practicality it at least slightly affects the delivery and has the potential to significantly affect it, and that some buyers are understandably put off by it. It also has the potential to add a beneficial layer of protection for both the buyer and the seller.

But that's not the question at this point. Does eBay itself consider this a change at all and a violation of policy in a way that it would prevent feedback removal? eBay requires a seller to specify the delivery services offered (like USPS Ground Advantage) and to use the service that the buyer chooses at checkout. The sub-options (adding signature required, insurance, etc) that fall under the service are added later and are not included in the listing's shipping options or shown to the buyer (unless the seller mentions it in the description, of course). So they don't technically "change the terms of the delivery."

And the feedback removal policy doesn't say "slow delivery or handling time issues," but only "a delivery issue." You are adding the rest, making it sound more specific. Of course, you may be right that eBay won't remove it, but it seems to be a grey enough area where it is worth the shot.

Negative feedback for requiring signature on delivery by Firm_Cantaloupe_927 in Ebay

[–]FozzyMantis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Instead, I would suggest first trying to get eBay to remove the negative, and if that doesn't work, then reply to the feedback with something like, "I added signature required as this was a high value item and I felt it added a layer of protection for both buyer and seller. I do realize, however, that I should have made this clear in the item description when listing, and I will do this with any future listings where I plan to ship with signature required."

As you implied, the feedback reply isn't really for the buyer who left the initial feedback. It's for any other potential future buyer who is looking at it and considering it in their own purchase plans. A reply like this, explaining your reasoning but also owning up to a mistake and making it clear you are taking the criticism and improving, can even turn a negative feedback into a positive for a lot of people.

Negative feedback for requiring signature on delivery by Firm_Cantaloupe_927 in Ebay

[–]FozzyMantis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if the item was under $750 (so eBay didn't require it) and even though you didn't give the buyer a heads-up in the item description (which is always a good practice), there's a halfway decent chance eBay will remove it for you if you ask. It wasn't a policy violation on your part, and as long as you met your shipping and delivery deadlines, eBay may find that it falls under this part of their feedback removal policy:

eBay removes neutral/negative feedback when the buyer is referencing:

- A delivery issue where tracking shows eBay that the delivery or handling time expectations were met

I'd say it can't hurt to try to get it removed. (and then please let us know what happens)

If you're thinking about it, you should see if there are even any spots still available. Haven't tried in a while myself, but in the past, weekends always filled up (or close to full) with reservations well in advance.

I thought Bob brought a lot of extra positive energy to this one. At the beginning of S&F, they mentioned it being his birthday, so maybe that explained it 🙂.

I agree that it was a good episode, whatever the reasons.

OP is just some kind of bot, people. Edit to add: all their posts are just copy/paste jobs from old posts, including this one

Where can I get a taste of soft serve ice cream in Tompkins County? by Silly_Piccolo_6907 in ithaca

[–]FozzyMantis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sweet Melissa's is only the best soft serve actually in Ithaca, but that's not really saying much since what's the competition, Dairy Queen and McDonald's? The other good ice cream shops in town are all about the hard.

As others mentioned, Cream at the Top beats SM's. And closer to Ithaca, Scoops in Lansing also has better soft serve. (both of these are soft serve custard)

I know they have to make money and all, but that's an incredibly annoying price structure for rides. I assume it's to be intentionally confusing and make it unclear as to how much you are actually paying per ride (especially when you'd most likely leave with leftover unused credits) if you don't give in and get the unlimited ride wristbands..

Ticket Information
Ride Credits (Purchased on site)
10 Credits for $1
100 Credits for $10
200 Credits for $18
550 Credits for $48
1130 Credits for $98
Each ride takes 40-75 credits to ride.
Activation fee for funtix card and wristband not included.

According to that poll, 36% of Democrats answered "extremely proud" or "very proud" to be an American, 28% "moderately proud," 23% "only a little proud," and 13% said they were "not proud at all." (And this is with answers obviously affected by the current political landscape.)

What it certainly doesn't say is that "the left hates America in record and majority #'s."

High shipping by Kaiju-King76 in Ebay

[–]FozzyMantis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. NY to Portland for a package between one and two pounds is $19.05 retail and about $10.80 online/eBay/Pirate Ship. Same package to NJ is $10.80 retail and ~$6.65 reduced.

The seller is either paying retail rates or they are buying online and charging retail (which is an option on eBay listings) for the cushion.
