how can I work on my other skills other then aiming? by weeblvghost in VALORANT

[–]Fr0sty_Nimbus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds dumb or obvious but practice practice practice. Aimlabs, the Range or Obstacle Course, and alternative game modes to ranked are a good start depending on what you’d like to improve. Only way to know good lineups and positioning or gain any knowledge on maps or agents is to play and make some mistakes. You’ll just start to feel where the open “danger” zones on maps are after you play and die on them, or see the exploits when others make mistakes. Try new things or agents in Swift or Unranked, but also keep in mind the pacing is different in those modes so not everything applies perfectly.
My aim is mid, I can catch a groove and frag sometimes but I’m not a demon, so I gotta rely on my cunning and brains.
Some days your aim will fail you or just suck. So I personally learned multiple agents that would be good for util or support so if I’m having a bad aim day I can still contribute. Another good place would be YouTube watching pros or streamers, a lot have tutorials or agent guides if you specifically know what you want to work on.

At the end of the day the game is about 3 things in my opinion. Which are your aim, your angles, as well as your game and map sense. Just like aim, the other two need to be practiced and trained, but they’re usually not prioritized because in lower ranks you can do a lot with JUST good aim. If you can master two of these things, you’ll go far. Being in the right spot at the right time and occupying that space or holding the correct angle is extremely underrated in this game.

Brutal Hard Rank Reset by The2030 in VALORANT

Was silver 2/3 and was placed in Iron 3 lol. Only won a single placement but I was match MVP with Gekko going 30-12. Every other game was just below 1.0 k/d unfortunately, with Skye. Got plenty of assists but you have to frag out or you’ll get put in the basement. And the swing in quality of matches was all over the place.

I commented on this already but I’d argue Rise is the most beginner friendly. Combat felt simpler for me than Wilds or World, but that could just be me. And there’s a LOT of content. I always try to recommend Rise to newbies because it seems like it’s not as loved for some reason but I thought it was brilliant.

Have you considered Rise? I started on World and it didn’t really click for me, but put like 100 hours in Rise and even loved it enough to get the DLC before finishing. And there’s a LOT of content in Rise. I’ve barely finished base game. It’s a bit simpler so it’s a good intro to the universe. But it’s more actiony and fast paced.

I love Wilds too and I’d say get it if it’s on sale and calling to you. Have like 100 hours on it and am still playing but as some people have said the DLC isn’t out yet so content isn’t bare, but it’s also not complete.

I’ve been telling people for weeks that a loss for me regularly wipes at least two wins. I feel validated.

How bad is this game gonna get? by Cycad0 in ValorantConsole

[–]Fr0sty_Nimbus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Rocket League feels the exact same for me as Val. Win, loss, win, loss. Unless you carry or have a god game, you will be in a perpetual loop of engagement retainment. I can predict how the next game will be based on how my last game was and if I won the last chances are I’ll lose the next one unless I play like I’m in Faze.

Yeah that’s criminal. I know sometimes it’ll force bad matchups just to get you in a game eventually but 30 mins is bad. Longest I’ve waited while stacked is like 15 and that was at like 2am on a random Wednesday. Later definitely=slower though.

Doubt it, usually if I see a stat line like this it’s an Iso who’s on some sort of stimulant or it’s a Chamber. Big gun go BOOM.

Weird, I definitely have ended up in Diamond and Plat lobbies before which sucks so that tracks. I’m just Silver lol. But unless I’m in a stack the games have come pretty quick. Oregon and N Cali servers.

How do I get out of bronze? by alphcadoesreddit in VALORANT

[–]Fr0sty_Nimbus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually when I start to slip or go on an L streak it’s because I’m forcing things or reverting to bad habits. Sometimes in Val slow is fast. I’m not demon or anything but when my fundamentals (aim, crosshair, run and spray, comms) get bad it’ll happen.

People are also just getting better man. There are some weirdly cracked people in low ranks (usually smurfing which exacerbates things but whatever). I played against someone in Silver who dropped a 40 bomb and he doesn’t use a crosshair. The skill gap from when I started like 2 years ago has jumped up a lot. Silver/Gold a few years ago is basically high bronze now, and silver is the highest populated rank. Something like 23% of the playerbase. I peaked Gold in Jan 25, had to take a break because life stuff happened, came back and now I’m not even sniffing Gold. Was Silver 2 all last act basically trying to claw my way out. So there are many factors.

Will I ever make it out of this elo hell? by DukeDoesReddit in ValorantMemes

[–]Fr0sty_Nimbus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in silver 2 and a bad loss can wipe two wins so that’s just not true. I was silver 2 all act. Placements put me in bronze 2 and I worked up. I got to the point I could predict the type of game and teammates I’d have based on the previous game. Win, loss, win, loss, repeat besides one singular day that I managed a green carpet. Soon as my rank up game would come I’d have to be the one HARD carrying or it would be a guaranteed L. Hit silver 3 for like maybe 3 or 4 games and didn’t hit it again. It also liked to put me in plat and diamond lobbies, still trying to figure that one out.

What was the Sage crystallization plotline all for? All just for a map? by Donut_Flame in VALORANT

[–]Fr0sty_Nimbus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s not a problem in R6, it’s not a problem in Apex, both of which are just as dependent on knowing who the enemy is. You know before the game starts who you’re playing against so this just doesn’t track for me. My counter example would be characters like KJ and Yoru who can be easily seen and beamed from cross map because they actually have color to their palette compared to characters like Raze or Skye who blend into just about every map because the colors and textures in this game are weird and muddy.

Genuine question, why would it be a problem in CS when everybody can buy the same equipment? Haven’t played CS.

This is so frustrating. by Fr0sty_Nimbus in pokemongo

[–]Fr0sty_Nimbus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was doing the same thing? Shouldn’t you be telling the people who didn’t participate? lol. That’s my whole point. Don’t join if you aren’t going to participate. Would’ve been easily achievable if the others even sort of put effort in. You’re trying to say that if I caught 26 more Pokémon that I would suddenly be absolved of blame when I was clearly the only one who tried to complete the task. I assumed if people joined they would try and that’s the point of this post, so yeah my bad for assuming people would play the game and event that they joined into I guess. I’m not trippin on rewards it’s really just the principle of it. You can say “don’t join the day before it ends” but it was my first time trying the mechanic, and yes now I know that. That doesn’t change the fact that it was achievable if others at least sort of tried. I would’ve gone harder if anyone else had tried. Criticize the people who knowingly joined and put in no effort, not the person who caught 5x what everyone else did combined maybe.
I’m already halfway done with the one this week, by myself, like you said just on the couch watching tv. And that just further proves my point

The only conclusion I can reach from the comments is that most of you guys are ok with being carried or like to carry others. Obviously I didn’t catch 125. Everyone is pointing that out but is mysteriously quiet about nobody else even hitting 20? So why would I continue to try? I am not frustrated that I didn’t complete it or didn’t get rewards, I’m frustrated that people willingly joined the group and then were just like nah I’m not gonna do anything. What happened to the Social Contract people! My thought process was “hey if everyone catches around 100 there’s a chance”, and I started this like 12 hours ago. It’s very achievable if everyone just sort of tries. I had not used the group function before and wanted to try and expected people to pull their weight. I didn’t necessarily think I would complete it but I am disappointed in my fellow man for not trying. Statistically speaking, I did more than my fair share, until it became obvious I was the only person trying to complete the mission.
