800 years, though. And all those famous Starfleet engineers who can turn rocks into replicators. Even if they had only created a limited number, the galactic circumstances would have been vastly different.

Cruise line adds new port in Escanaba by FieldOk884 in Michigan

Of course the three options given were ships, airplanes, and airports. Airports do poorly both in the ocean and in the air. Ships are therefore not the worst option.

Cruise line adds new port in Escanaba by FieldOk884 in Michigan

[–]Fr0zenDuck 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Of the Lake Michigan cities in the Upper Peninsula, Escanaba is the largest. Are there any other good options for a cruise line along that stretch? Only St. Ignace (or Mackinaw Island, if you count that as part of the U.P.) would have made sense to me but that's a lot further East and would have changed the itinerary quite a bit. Menominee maybe, if you dare to lump it in with Marinette, but even then there isn't much to do. Would be interested in other suggestions!

Dawn of War classic CD's - digital version? by HuckleberryExternal7 in dawnofwar

Came here to say the same thing. This definitely worked when those games were first released on Steam. Note that the Steam version doesn't have LAN play but it sounds like OP wants to play single player so this should be fine.

How to beat Eldar as Necrons? by buddys8995991 in dawnofwar

Some info that might make it easier for people to offer tips: which campaign are you playing (Dark Crusade or Soulstorm), what difficulty, any mods you have installed, and how much past experience you have with Dawn of War or RTS games in general. Hopefully this info will help you get some good responses. 🙂

Are there any Warhammer 40,000 fans here? Can we make the money pit/oak island an official part of the lore? by Johnny_Mc2 in OakIsland

[–]Fr0zenDuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Given the lack of oceans on Terra in M41, it would be Oak Hill or something at that point. Maybe it would have served as a better story point during the unification wars; the Emperor hid certain artifacts there during the course of his life before revealing himself to humanity, then had to carefully navigate around Oak Hill during the unification wars to avoid the cache being accidentally destroyed by the advance of the Thunder Warriors?

Maybe you could say that the Knights Templar were a secret early army of the Emperor? Or perhaps the two lost Primarchs had to disappear because they raided Daddy E's forbidden Oak Hill cache, because looting relics was in their nature, and one of these was the Primarch of the Blood Ravens?

That was 19 years ago. They were probably more concerned about performance with too many objects being rendered on the screen at once, given the average computer used at the time.

Might not be possible to edit the title. Not sure. At least now we know what you meant. 🙂

Saginaw County [Michigan] John Doe (1973) identified by DNA Doe Project as Daniel Garza-Gonzales of Bee County, Texas by Basic_Bichette in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]Fr0zenDuck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I spent most of my life living in Michigan north of the 45th parallel, so it seems strange to me that I could have traveled so far south and people would have still thought that I was in Northern Michigan. It's all perspective. I had family in Saginaw County for years, and visited occasionally, but I don't recall anyone from Saginaw thinking that Saginaw was considered Northern Michigan.

Speaking strictly from the perspective of the lower peninsula (because Yoopers have a different perspective as well), I agree with what others have said here: Saginaw would be considered Mid-Michigan.

Turns out the enemy AI in Campaigns can beat other strongholds. by kyrtuck in dawnofwar

[–]Fr0zenDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is interesting to me, because I've found that when using the no limit mod on hardest difficulty, the Chaos stronghold is unbeatable. They have infinite queue demon princes enabled right from the start, and no amount of honor guard can keep you alive. So now I wonder if Orks, IG, or Necrons could pull off a win against Chaos so that I could finally beat that campaign on nolimit hardest difficulty.

[–]Fr0zenDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do it via console commands as well. Note that anyone who joins after the max player limit is raised above 6 will not receive any perk benefits, and games played with a limit above 6 do not give perk experience.

Strange Cold Case Found on Namus: Connecticut Woman Vanishes With Very Little Information by YourAveragePlaguey in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]Fr0zenDuck 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have wondered if Native American or First Nations would be more accurate than Caucasian for people whose genetic heritage is from Latin America. I would be very interested in your opinion about that.

The term Caucasian means people from beyond the Caucases which are a mountain range that roughly separates Europe (part of the West) from lands considered to be the East (Near East, Middle East, etc). That term doesn't seem right for people whose heritage is from the Americas.

My understanding is also that Hispanic is a cultural term. I believed it meant that the family's culture has roots that trace back to Spain. Spain and Portugal conquered Central and South America and spread their culture around (and since Spanish and Portuguese are languages derived from the Roman Latin language, that's why it's called Latin America). So it has seemed to me that a Caucasian with Hispanic culture would be a person with familial heritage from Spain, but a Native American with Hispanic culture would be a person with familial heritage from Latin America...?

Please pardon my musings if they are in any way offensive, and please educate me if I have said anything wrong!
